Golden State Warriors Season Mercifully Over Following Play-In Elimination at Suns, w/Armando Lara

The Golden State Warriors were mercifully eliminated in the Play-In finale at the Phoenix Suns with @SprewellWasRight host and UC Berkeley Professor Armando Lara joining Cyrus Saatsaz for a Friday Night Live postgame show immediately following the action to discuss whether this was indeed Steve Kerr’s final game as head coach while the crew discussed what’s next for Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the organization.

  1. That stat is misleading. If you’re judging Steph for missing the playoffs as an mvp than count the years he’s been an mvp which is 2015 to 2026 . So he’s missed the playoffs 4 times as an mvp 2020, 2021, 2024, 2026. Counting his whole career is kinda dumb because it contradicts the original post😂by that logic LeBron missed the playoffs 4 times 2003 2019,2022,2024. But you wouldn’t count the years prior to him being and mvp, so LeBron has missed the postseason 3 times as an mvp.

  2. Lacob already decided Kerr and his coaches are out along with Dunceleavy they are looking at Thom Thibideaux my source is 100%.

  3. Perfect result. A great game to watch Wednesday and a couple.of days o f feeling good. Now they all can heal and get in the lottery

  4. Might have ended 😂😂😂 this dynasty was over in 2024 Curry can't finish playoffs last two years expect the same next year if they get that far.

  5. Technically warriors don’t know how to draft because Wiseman and Kuminga both flopped. The ones responsible for drafting Steph Curry are no longer with the Warriors(Don Nelson and Larry Riley). Let’s face it Kuminga is a role player at best. Getting excited about a draft pick is fine but only if they do not turn out to be duds like our previous top picks. I’d trade the pick for a star instead.

  6. Fine result. Either way, this team is going to stink next year and probably for many years to come. Ask Chicago how it’s been going for the last 28 years. Tough sledding. It’s hard to strike gold twice unless you have Sam Presti running things. They’re going to have to make major changes on top to rebuild and if they don’t get a little lucky with their FO choices it could be a 30 year period of irrelevance before the Dubs are contenders again.

  7. Armando said "I guarantee you Podziemki's going to take himself out before the play-in" by faking an injury (this after baselessly accusing Podz of faking injuries last season, and then praising Kuminga for faking injuries this season), but instead Iron Man Podz played all 82 games, 79 minutes in two play-in games and was easily the best Warrior on the floor last night, leading the team in points (23 on highly efficient shooting) and rebounds (10) against a team that was swarming all night defensively. Not a great game overall due to poor passing, but he performed far beyond what he's being paid to deliver, just as he's done every season.

  8. Two good things, if at all, about losing this game are Steph is in one piece and Kerr is his usual pathetic self.

First, bumped knee and all Steph is still intact for the off season. Second just as important, is someone upstairs though dumb and gutless, should know enough now how useless Kerr has been these last 4 years leading Steph and his team to nowhere near a contending season at all, and have some urgency to fire him giving Steph one last shot.

Before this game, for defense I knew we needed one constantly on Booker, and one constantly on Jalen. Since we didn't have Nate Williams and didn't have two GPIIs, we needed to get Will Richard to play, and also suggested using more Seth, less Porzingis, less Melt, and less Podz.

I knew before this game that Kerr wouldn't play either Will nor Seth. As the rigid 'coach' would probably stick with his 8 men rotation.

Also what a surprise his favorite pet plays the most minutes, jacking him up for a big paycheck next season with the most points in this game while losing big on a one-sided game from start to finish.

When Podz is playing the most minutes and is the leading scorer on a team with Steph playing, a lopesided lost is about as accurate as we can expect.

True to his let-me-get-paid future-key-to-the-franchise self, behind 84-97 with about 5:40 left, instead of passing to a hands-raised Steph for a wide-open 3, Kerr's loverboy decided to dribble to the rim himself for a turnover. Booker scored next so instead of a possible 10 point game with time left, now it's a 15 point game with time running out.

Is it possible to not play Seth at all in the play-ins? Is it possible to play Podz the most minutes? Is it possible not to start Al instead of Porzingis? The answer is an absolute Yes, when your 'coach' is so biased, so rigid, and so outdated.

As I always said, the only chance next season, for Steph to get one more and for Jimmy to get his first, is for Kerr to walk.

Best to all Kerr-less Steph's Warriors fans next season and God bless to all !🙏

  9. You purport to be all about truth and objectivity, but you still won't retract your false claim that Podz "only puts up numbers against really bad teams." In his final 11 games (10 without Curry) against top 10 teams, he averaged 58.4 Effective FG%, 63.2 True Shooting%, 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.7 assist-to-turnover ratio, 1.0 steals in 31 minutes per game. Kuminga against top 10 teams: abysmal 42.8 eFG%, 45.2 TS%, 9.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio, 0.4 steals in 23.5 minutes per game, having far more support than Podz did and a higher usage rate.

Saying Podz is "only good at charges and durability" is just more extreme ignorance. He rebounds extremely well and scores much more efficiently (54.3 eFG%, 58.3 TS%) than most point guards. He finished in NBA's top 74th percentile in rim FG%, top 65th on isos, top 75th on cuts, top 87th in transition…

  10. I do really think the season ended when Butler got hurt. They woulda been in top 6 if he hadn't got hurt he got everything going. Also JK is not a future star he can't shoot and everything is athleticism based he'll fall off like D-Rose and all you haters need to leave my guy Podz alone he'll play in NBA for 12 plus years

  11. Daizyrio said Podz is going to "show us all" next season lol. This is peak Podz! You cant get anymore chances and minutes than this. His scoring has only gone up from 9ppg to 11ppg to 13ppg because of more minutes. Not because his game got better.

If Steve Kerr is no long the coach then Podz is not showing us nothing. He will be on the bench or traded. New coach not playing him starting minutes and leaning into him. lol Kerr gone Podz can say good bye to his extension! lol

  12. How many came on last show and was breaking down the Warriors have a chance to beat OKC if Kerr plays the right rotation? lol

  13. Curry was supposed to be on a 30 minute minutes restriction for these play in games. He ends up playing 36 minutes each game.! Curry could have stayed healthy If Kerr took a page out of Popovich book and 3 seasons ago limited Currys minutes to 28-30 a night. Leaned into developing the actual talent on the team. Not DNPing them because they didnt fit what you wanted to do or how you think it should look out there.

  14. This host is narcissistic and a Hater …. bitter … toxic. Unfollow and move on everyone … it doesn't deserve warrior fans followers…

  15. Podz Assist (0) to Turnover (4) ratio tonight was elite. It is almost impossible for a point / combo guard to have zero assists in 39 minutes. Podz leading the team in minutes and FGAs is not a recipe for success. Podz is the ultimate connector to Cancun – I can't wait for his primary enabler to be gone.

  16. In the 3rd quarter at 5:39 you can see Curry fall to the floor as his knee gave out with no one around him. It was revealed that Curry not only had a runners knee but it was a bone bruise like Kuminga. This is the karma I am speaking of. How many Warriors fans even in this chat are judging Kuminga on his 20 minute a night play on that bone bruise? Calling him just a role player or Hawks are not winning because of him? Curry exploded his first game after his long rest just like Kuminga exploded for the Hawks his first 3 games. Then that injury flared up. Just like you saw Kuminga not finishing like he can you saw tonight Curry come up short on many of his drives and shots. Should we judge Curry on this one game? Or should we understand he was pushing through an injury?

You all should be thankful the Warriors lost this game because how bad would that knee have gotten in the first round against OKC?

  17. Hey Cy, please make this current show/podcast downloadable. It usually is and this is the first time i noticed it wasn't. Thanks

  18. Steve's exit could be running for the Congressional Seat in CA14, vacated by Democrat Eric Swalwell. A special election primary is set for June 16, and the special election on August 18. He would have to be a resident of that district, so if he does not already live there, he would have to quickly move. Steve is as far Left as Swalwell, maybe even more, and has name recognition in the East Bay (where the district is located), so he could easily win the election. That makes leaving easier for him with Steph and Dray. I can hear his presser now ("It has been the greatest honor of my life to coach these guys and win championships with them, I've been blessed to have a great career, but it's time for the next chapter in my life, running for the U.S. House of Representatives, to help protect democracy from the growing threat of facism coming out of Washingon, D.C., and to protect the most vulnerable among us."). Steve could then bash Trump 24/7, which is probably enticing to a guy like him.

  19. I think it’s important to note: Jonathan Kuminga is still playing. Dubs are going home.

  20. I do not believe that they can't miss in the draft. Im glad we lost but I still nervous about the coach i.e. Doc Rivers 😬
