I really hope the NBA rethinks the foul calls being made. Makes it impossible to defend. I actually want to see some physicality out there. If you flop it should be a tech. The hate SGA gets isn't because he's a FT merchant, it's because he's dominating without being a highlight reel player or stat padder. If he was throwing down the odd dunk, or tossing up a heap of stepback 3s, or grabbing triple doubles, then the casuals who just watch highlights on YT would love him as much as they loved Harden, Westbrook or Trae.
But killing teams with smart, technical, two way basketball isn't sexy, so in come the narratives about foul baiting, dirty play, being a weak defender ( the most ridiculous one ) and all the other accusations that fall apart under any real scrutiny. It doesn't help that SGA is just as quiet as Kawhi, and doesn't have some swaggering wannabe tough guy/trash talker persona. He's an actual professional basketball player who is playin to win, not playing to the crowd, and they hate him for it.
