As a Nuggets fan, I can tell you exactly why the Wolves played these coverages, and it really has to do with one man:
Christian Braun.
Braun is a 30% 3-point shooter. Last playoffs he shot 29% on wide open corner threes. Everyone knows it. Its in the scouting report.
Of course, you beat the scouting report by simply hitting the shots they give you, and make them pay for leaving you. Braun hit them.
