This Isn’t How The Raptors Season Was Supposed To End
The Toronto Raptors season is over, and it’s not as simple as just reacting to Game 7. Coming into the year, this was a team expected to win around 40 games. Instead, they won 46, earned the 5th seed, and pushed a strong Cleveland Cavaliers team to seven games in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. That matters, and it’s a big part of how this season should be remembered.
At the same time, Game 7 was a tough way for it all to end. The Raptors couldn’t get stops, couldn’t rebound, and completely lost control in the second half. After everything they showed throughout the series, it felt like a real missed opportunity, especially with how close they were to something bigger.
That’s really what this comes down to. This was a great Raptors season — a fun team, real progress, and meaningful basketball again in Toronto after a couple of down years. But it also ended in a way that leaves you thinking about what could’ve been. Both of those things can be true.
What did you think of the Raptors season overall?

This is fine
We also need to be better at free throws. it helps in critical moments.
We miss too many shots when it matters
Im still happy with this szn. I thought we faced a ton of ups and downs. It's okay to face adversity and + we took the cavs to a 7 game series with no IQ BI. RJ, CMB, & SB, the future
Really still proud of this team and the way Drako has instilled such an amazing culture to this young team while the offseason will be intresting to see how things pan out overall can't wait to see the next season
My impression, the Raps need a starting centre and move Jackob to the bench. Quickly needs to grow his game, a bit. If he can be a more well rounded PG, cable of seeing the whole game and floor and act as a real floor general, then things are set there. The biggest need for the Raps comes from the secondary players, the Sheads, CMB's and Walters' group. If they can up their games to the next level, I think this team can compete for more than just a playoff spot. Where they can go from here is a %70 internal improvement and %30 brought in outside talent equation.
I think Internal Growth simply won't be enough for the Raptors next season. Webster will actually have to do something. Webster will spin this season and talk about the great strides the team made and how we'll be even better next season, while doing nothing. The players are extremely likeable, but not this front office. Like seriously, what's the plan? Webster has literally overpaid all of our core players, save for Barnes and CMB (who's of course on a rookie contract), and what's the next contract for RJ? Knowing Webster, let's offer him a max contract…….
I’m very happy with how this season went, especially with how ugly it looked at times. Our half court offence is still bad. A hampered big man. Rookie playing heavy minutes out of position.
Great analysis… Had Game 5 at Cleveland tipped in the Raptors favour (and that really looked to be the case most of that game), a Game 6 win at home (albeit not as dramatic) would have given them the series.
I hate how all the tankers are now at the top of the NBA. Spurs, pistons and OKC. They need to fix the tanking problem.
