Great season. Raps will need to bank on internal development, based on their cap sheet.
Is it possible to convert Gradey to a pg right now? If he works only at screen navigation and defending the ball? He just doesn't deserve the 2 guard slot with his missed 3's and how open they were.
Bobby has done a terrible job. Wasted most of our cap space. He should be fired.
Offseason starts with RJ. If you pay him that limits how to approach the offseason, if you choose not to extend you probably need to explore trading him. But after how good he looked in playoffs trading RJ probably ain't it.
they need to shed RJ for a real backup big and superstar( or better shooting role players) That will boost their offense enough. Quickely fits barnes and BI better with his shooting and defense, and IQ contract is difficult to trade right now
This is all assuming Scottie resigns in Toronto and after how hes been treated I wouldnt be surprised if he looks elsewhere.
Move Jak with picks, trade RJ resign Mamu clean up the books. Its much better to do it now, with known assets, then later with unknowns. The next few drafts are weak. Use those picks.
Great discussion guys 1) I don’t believe the Raptors want to pay RJ. They cannot kick this down the road because there is a threat he’ll walk for nothing. 2) Gradey is still young and has value. The Raptors will not have to attach anything, can take on picks or another young player who hasn’t developed either. 3) Raptors are stuck with Jak. 4) next offseason will be key with RJ’s contract up and BI with option to opt out.
People need to remember it took 5 years of playoff appearances for us to win the championship. Also, there a cap space intricacies that bobby knows that we are not aware of.
Guys are talking as if Yak is dead. He had just last year a career year, and this year a downyear due to injury. He was clearly out of shape because of that. I bet, if he plays well again next year, he gets 0 credit. As if Yak is the scapegoat for everything.
The Yak contract is a ploy. When they are ready to trade for someone big they won’t have to give up anyone too valuable to match $. Yak maybe a young player and a couple picks as an example is what would be sent out. That said I hope they Draft a C.
Ingram. To say he handles physical opponents badly is being kind. That doesn’t make me feel good about future playoffs. And he really continually regresses to pounding the dribble for 20 seconds and throwing up a prayer. He's talented. He can hit a prayer sometimes. That cannot be the plan. That doesn't make it a good offensive process. It stops the team and their momentum dead. If he had any interest in being part of the offense, it could work. If not, we need a different star with Scottie and the team.
Just waive Temple for a roster spot , sign Branden Carlson for cheap fill backup big
Don't trade R.J. he is the clue guy for the offense and has improved defence ! Use B.I. as trade bait if you need one ! I like Gradey but I can't perdict his future progress. Yak and BI need to go into the off season with programs to grow stronger , put on some muscle. It will help Yak's back issues. They need shooting and height ! Hopefully they can bring back Mamu !
Will R.J. give the Raptors a home town discount for a NO TRADE CLAUSE ? He wants a long term contract to stay in Toronto. TRADE I.Q. TO MAKE ROOM FOR BARRETT !
Sandro was completely useless in the playoffs and most teams in the league have size. I don’t think we need him back at anything that is not a discount to us. He was also bad leading into the playoffs.
