The Grizzlies jump up in the lottery and will pick 3rd

The Grizzlies got lucky in the NBA draft lottery on Sunday, jumping up three spots to receive the 3rd overall pick. After months of tanking , the Grizzlies beat the odds and will now have their pick of either AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cam Boozer, or Caleb Wilson.

It was a happy result after a down season, and one that could jumpstart a rebuild. This episode reacts to the good news, looks at the other lucky and unlucky teams, and considers now what this means for the Grizzlies’ second 1st round pick.

  1. Couldn’t we still have gotten this pick because of the bane trade? Still tanked AND did not need to trade JJJ?
It feels like this reset is rushed and sketchy

  2. the nets posted pictures of Claxton/Ja a few years back, but yea they have like seven point guards + whatever they draft, etc etc. When I look over the list, I think you have thirteen possible teams, but a lot of those teams have interest but nothing to offer, etc.

  3. Of those top 4, I think I like Caleb Wilson the most if he is healthy. He is certainly replacing a lot of that defense that we are missing, and Edey can shoot, so I imagine you just Pick and Pop or Pick and Roll with Edey, and just let Caleb do the JJJ minus the drives from the perimeter, etc, but he might be able to develop an outside shot, it isn't completely lacking from his package. AJ seems a bit Chris Webber/Julius Randley I suppose, I didn't watch him enough, but high usage big play maker that can score/pass, so maybe that would be ok? At least all 4 of these players can play with Ja, if for some reason he is still here, and if for some reason the draft pick would be used as leverage against keeping Ja, so we are in good position to keep or trade Ja, but once again, I hope they work stuff out with Ja.
