NBA Draft Lottery DISAPPOINTMENT | Should Charlotte TRADE the picks? | Who do the Hornets SELECT?

The Charlotte Hornets now officially hold the 14th and 18th selections in the upcoming NBA Draft—but what’s the best move for the Queen City’s team? In this episode, Walker Mehl and Doug Branson break down reactions to the lottery results and the low odds of moving higher, while explaining why fans aren’t as anxious as in years past. This newfound calm comes from the growing trust in Jeff Peterson and the front office, a group that’s already delivered with picks like Kon Knueppel, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and Seon James.

Should the Hornets package their picks to move up in this year’s draft, target an impactful veteran, or do the smart thing and simply use both selections? The discussion highlights how Charlotte’s recent drafting success and strong player development pipeline now give them the flexibility to zig while others zag.

Doug Branson ranks the top 10 lotteries of all time (including the NBA draft lottery, El Gordo, and Powerball), and the duo debate the merits of maintaining a youth movement versus trading for experience, drawing inspiration from teams like OKC and San Antonio. Plus, the team reviews a fresh mock draft that puts the spotlight on big man Ade Mara and guard Cameron Carr as possible picks for Charlotte.

Tune in for thoughtful draft philosophy, Hornets optimism, and a bit of lottery-related fun as Charlotte fans look ahead to a crucial summer.

  1. would like to see them draft Yaxel(doubt he’ll be there), Cenac(over Mara personally),Isiah Evans, Brayden burries, Christian Anderson Jr, or Nate Ament(also doubt he’ll be there)

Don’t know much about Karim Lopez or Steinbach but I’ve heard good things same with dailyn swain

If they could trade up to pick 5 with both 1sts some later picks and grant or I hate to say it but miles you’re getting Boozer Acuff or Wilson which could really have this team being young and great for a long long while

Would also like to note that after the masterclass last season this management has proved they know how to draft and I’m for once confident going into the draft that they know what they’re doing. I feel like usual classes it makes sense to trade for talent like Bam but with how deep this class is if they can get young talent for a small contract and keep the group they’ve got together that’d be the best option instead of letting a all-star superstar caliber player end up breaking the team apart if it doesn’t work out

  2. Just came here to address the double standard of how Wemby’s elbow was handled versus melo’s trip of bam which to no surprise was day and night which solidifies the media bias and hate tht melo gets is ridiculous and comical at this point. The icing on the cake is tht some of it comes from so called hornets fans. Make it make sense and to tht I say melo live your best life screw the haters.

  3. Trade Giannis for Kon, Sion, Bridges, Kalbrenner, Green, Picks.
LaMelo, B Mill, Giannis, Moussa, Cody, Grant W, Draft Jayden Quaintance, etc and Go Back to the Old Hornets Logo

  4. Wonder if the bucks would entertain trading Giannis if the hornets offered 3-4 first round picks plus miles, green & mann to make the money work

  5. Trade Brandon Miller, Tre Mann, Josh Green for the 2 pick with Utah. Utah gets 14th pick , and 18th pick, future 2nd. Charlotte gets 2nd pick, 28 first round pick, a player return

  6. They need another young PG and young stretch five that are both average or better all around with no weaknesses if they want to contend. If not then they're an injury away from playing Miles, Grant, Tidjane, or PJ at the five and Tre at PG. That's not a serious plan.
