Should the Mavs JUMP On Morez Johnson Jr. After His MASSIVE NBA Combine?

1. They should possibly take Mara, If the ultimate goal is going to be beating out Wemby & the Spurs over the next 10 year he might be their best chance..

2. This team needs to have an identity. What do we want to do? Do we go with the Orlando model? And then working on finding scorers later or do we just focus on offense. I think we should go get Suggs to pair with Burries, get really good POA defending backcourt. That would help Coop and Lively.

6. Was impressed with M Johnson, jr in the tournament games. Didn't see him during the regular season. He would be a great pick at 30 but the Mavs need a PG and several are in this draft and one or two will fall to the 9th pick. Get one. Wagler, Brown, Philon any would improve the Mavs.

7. I'm trying to speak Hannes Stienbach to Dallas into existence. He's my favorite prospect in the draft. He's an elite rebounding big who can run in transition and has really good finishing abilities with both touch and power. He also shoots well, although he is still working on his 3pt range. He reminds me of Isiah Hartenstein. Also I hate to say this but we can't bank our future on Lively's health. Draft Stienbach at 9 then sign Anfernee Simmons in FA and we should be ready to compete.

8. I don't think anyone should assume masai takes a guard. He's not married to anyone on the roster besides cooper and maybe kyrie since he's talked about wanting to see Kyrie and cooper play. You can always trade for a guard or get one in free agency

9. If you're gonna take him, trade down with someone, get extra picks and then pick him. There are guards throughout the draft.

10. If the Mavs traded down and picked Johnson and still be able to get legit guard help I wouldn't hate it. Do I think they'll do it? No

13. I would take a skilled athletic big man who can shoot, over a point guard, any day!!

14. I would trade down with OKC, pick up Aday Mara at 12, Morez at 17, and one of Ebuka Okorie/Evans/Meleek Thomas, at 30. I would trade the slow Gafford and or PJ and move up and try to get another pick making it 4 picks, let Lively and Mara battle it out for the starting role. I would do this IF, I can't get Wagler/Acuff/Brown, and we're definitely not getting the top 4, might as well go for athleticism and size. Just an opinion, albeit could be a bad one, but I'm trying to think like Ujiri. My thinking is, we're going to need size to combat Wemby, and Mara is not only 7'4 with shoes, who plays barefooted? And he's thick, and those thick guys usually don't incur injuries early on like the more thin super tall guys do.

36. Didn't Derek lively also make 5 threes in a row at the combine? The combine is useful but not everything. Also stop with the greatest over hype of all time on Burries, he's average bench player at everything yet not great at anything, plays like Josh Green who isn't even in the league anymore I don't think.
