  1. I think the biggest issue with this trade is them giving up matherine. Like if this was a straight swap with the pick for zubots it would be much less of 😢an issue for me.

And you're wildly undervaluing matherine's defense though I guess that's pretty normal for someone who knows. Nothing about that end of the ball.

And you use on off numbers wrong. Catherine was often being subbed in for halliburton, so of course there's a huge fall off when he is on the floor versus off because halliburton's not on the floor. It's the same misunderstandings of statistics that made people think jokic was the best player in the league when it was very clear. He wasn't even top two due to his atrocious defense and you overrating his offense due to a misunderstanding of advanced stats And what they actually mean

  2. As a Pacer fan and knowing the pick slot, the only negative I see is maybe the package we sent to the Clips could have returned an even better player than Zu in the off-season. And even that is a big maybe. On the plus side we keep 2029 when presumably Siakam and Zu are gone and the odds are flattened for the bottom 18 teams so…."Silver" linings

  3. Aday Mara looks to me like he has a really high ceiling, and I haven't really heard much buzz around him for the upcoming draft, but if it was up to me (which it's not), I would take him over Caleb Wilson

  4. Let’s be real the pacers are not contenders moving forward, we are in for a brutal Haliburton recession. In the span of a year a number of teams have surpassed the full health pacers. I love Hali but he alone is not taking a bottom of the barrel team to the finals again

  5. as a pacers fan you pretty much summed up exactly what ive been feeling. is it a disappointment not to get a top 4 pick? for sure. but i still think this was a good trade for us, assuming zubac actually works out the way we anticipate him to

  6. Look, was it a mistake… sure. BUT let’s not forget the pacers desperately NEEDED a center. and 9/10 times, zubac is a better big than turner was. matter fact, huff technically outperformed turner on some aspects.so not only do the pacers get a better big than turner, but players within like Jay huff and Jarace Walker got better. meaning even the bench is looking good going into the year. although i still think indy should get another big and shooter. which they have the money and the talent to do. i trust KP. and even though it sucks to not have a top 5 player in the draft playing for us, this just means we’re back to what we were last year, backs against the wall and facing adversity. they should be even more fierce in free agency this year as it’s now apparent for the next 3-5 years, the pacers will be a “win now” team and at that, title contenders.

  7. What are you smoking? This trade is meh even if that pick is not attached, Zubac is above decent but he is approaching 30 yo and has a lot of nagging injuries, he has about 2 years of NBA career left, also he is not a popular type of centre to the league, delusional pacers fans argue he fits their team, OK that can be true but does it matter when it comes to determine his value? No, the point is there is hardly any competition to Zubac other teams are not lining up to beat pacers, they might not even be in that line, clippers wants to rebuild already send off PG and Harden so they can't hold off a Zubac trade, it has to be done before summer, Mathurin is talented enough players picks around him as a package is enough for Zubac, this should be a time to exploit clippers offering less than that package, but somehow the usually smart Kevin Pritchard gave way more than that, attach a gamble chance to clippers for a higher pick that clippers desperately need on top of a fair trade, it's either Pritchard had a brain fart moment, or there is something worth making a conspiracy about, almost like Pacers and the league made a deliberately fumble act to send clippers some rebuilding help, their owner is Steve Balmer after all, we all know he gets whatever he wants from Silver, if you can remember, most team bought thru a competition of offers, Balmer didn't, someone created a "PR crisis" so Silver forced Sterling to sell the team fast, Balmer happened to be one of the very few people who had that much money to pay right away.

  8. whoa hold up. Myles Turner was ass on offense against OKC but I can't pretend I didn't watch him defend his ass off in the playoffs & finals. i know this because i remember saying to myself, "Myles Turner plays defense?"

  9. Everyone thinks they’re a great GM when they have the power of hindsight lol. There was a 52% chance that the pacers come out of this with Zubac AND Dybantsa, Peterson, Boozer, or Wilson, and people would have been praising Kevin Pritchard for this trade. All of a sudden the 48% outcome happens, and they all want him fired.

  10. I think it's only a mistake if they don't make a deep run or two with Zubac contributing. If he regresses or Hali isn't the same, then I'd call it a bad deal.

  11. I think that filling the Myles Turner void was Kevin Pritchard's true goal by acquiring Zubac. The pick was just a gamble that didn't pan out; yes, it was disappointing, but it happens. Even if it had panned out, the player they would've drafted probably would've been coming off the bench (unless they were gonna play SF, their weakest position, imo) or traded for more assets and/or pieces since they don't fit the Pacers' current direction. Also, the Pacers still the off-season to make some more marginal moves, so the Pacers fans who are whining should wait to see what their team's organization does from here.

  12. As a Pacers fan I THANK YOU for having a sensible take on it. Jesus the fanbase is acting like Zubac is trash and Benedict was prime Jordan. And the national media is not helping either.
