All Glory to God. Raptor's need to get another Pick in the first round.. maybe trade a future pick for one of OkC Pick.. They will be looking tradec for future Pick
If Bennett Stirtz doesnt have the speed to blow by defenders at the point of attack then I dont think he fits this team.
We need a player with speed, shooting and athleticism. I dont think Bennett Stirtz fits our team.
We need a player like Okorie, Carr, Christian Anderson or Amari Allen.
Unless we draft a Center and Bobby Webster is somehow able to get a player that we need on this team for once like a Deuce Mcbride, Landry Shamet or a Coby White which would solve most of our problems.
Anything else would be a mistake and set our team back in my opinion.
If Grady Dick was 22 years old. On the floor 95 or 97% of the time. Have the ball in his hands all the time. His numbers and overall esthetics would far surpass Bennett Stirtz.
I think Jack did a great job of talking through the Bennett Stirtz possibilities. I'm not that high on Stirtz for the Raptors, but this conversation did a good job of helping me ground some of my thinking about him. I like him in theory for the Raptors, I'm just scared that he won't be quick or strong enough to get his game off consistently in the NBA.
I think Swain is a good fit for the Raptors in the sense that he likes to play in space. I can see him fitting well with Scottie as someone who could thrive in transition.
Also, I hope you have Jack on the podcast often throughout draft season.
Swain’s jumper is ugly. Massive hitch there and slow delivery. I buy the defense and the driving ability.
Stirtz set the net on fire at the combine and showed good athleticism. Iowa played a ridiculously slow game, I don’t know if that is reflective of Stirtz
Okorie is the guy – he has the heart, the handle, the paint penetration, the high IQ, carves defenses. Hope he is there (might go back to college) and Raps pick him! OR – Hannes Steinbach. 6'10 double-double master who shoots 34% from 3, grabs almost 12 rips, and 1.2 blocks per, while 18+
IQ has no court vision or awareness at all. He just doesn’t see the cutter. He’s more of a combo guard who is much, much better off ball. Jamal is better at this, but he can’t shoot. Bennett can do both so I’m not surprised they’re interested in him. If raps draft a PG, it’s a sign they know Quick isn’t working as a primary ball handler. They see what we see.
Allen Graves! We need forward depth and Mogbo isnt an option, we cant get rid of Jak anyways
Okorie is too small. It's very rare for someone of his size to become an impactful NBA player.
Stirtz might not be athletic and strong enough to get his game off in the NBA (although his skill set is what we need). Don't want to repeat the Gradey mistake.
Swain looks like a right handed version of RJ Barret. Don't need two of those.
I'd prefer Hannes Steinbach. A stretch centre that's a good defender and rebounder would be great.
But really, I dream of drafting Darius Acuff. Love this guy. What the Raps DESPERATELY need is a shot making creator who can put pressure on the rim. Hard to get someone like that drafting outside of the lottery.
Bennett Stirtz could potentially revive Jak's career. We haven't had a legit pick and roll scoring threat that can take advantage of Jak's screens since FVV. Shead is good at making that pocket pass but isn't a big enough threat to score off the pick and roll. IQ is the opposite, he can score but isn't the greatest passer or decision maker off the pick and roll. Stirtz seems to be able to do both.
Jak and IQ need each other to thrive…that’s why both of them struggled this past year…stirtz will be Jak’s best friend if we get him…
I really like Cameron Carr if he's still there at our pick. Morez Johnson and Ebuka Okorie too. I'm just not sold that Stirtz will be able to operate as effectively in the NBA
Totally agree that ebuka may not be there at 19
If we get ebuka or stirtz…iq probably gone
The great white north is what I’ll be calling Stirtz if we draft him
Seems like he wouldn’t fall to us, but I’m pretty interested in Karim Lopez. This is based on our current success as a team winning with strength.
He has a pretty developed frame for his age and had a lot of reps to throw his weight around in the NBL. You might worry about the OG-esque heavy-footedness. While he looks clumsy sometimes in the halfcourt, he’s looked much more fluid, coordinated, and athletic in transition to me.
He’s primarily a downhill finisher and cutter, and sprinkled some touch looks showing off a lil variety. The shooting is a work in progress, but by no means a lost cause.
I also think he can be a positive guarding on the perimeter. He’s got active hands and chases down slashing guards and wings at the rim. His feet are decent, but his strength always keeps him in play most of the time.
Fundamentally, I had something similar to the Swain argument. He’s really young, so there would be some room for us to mold him into a guy. I think someone like him, coming from a professional team, could make him a meaningful contributor sooner than expected.
