  1. The guards at six don’t feel like the usual Sean Marks/BJ Johnson Brooklyn prototype.
To me, it’s simple. Trade up or trade back.
Go all-in for Darryn Peterson, or move back with Dallas, take Brayden Burries at 10, and grab that 30th pick too.
Don’t force a panic pick at six. Add as many first-rounders to this roster as possible and keep building smart.

  2. Nets should try and get the clippers 5th pick. I’d like Mikel and Acoff. Idc about the previous guards we got. Other than Egor. We need a star! If Acoff has the biggest chance of becoming that, let’s get him!

  3. I have my doubts about all of them, and think most of the players in this tier look promising. If the medicals look great, Brown would be fine as the pick.

  4. Acuff showed up against the tougher competition in march madness. I believe the only reason you mike brown is better is because a 1 1/2 height differential imaoo. Mikel brown will not be an all defender but Acuff will potentially be an all NBA in the future. Opinions lie, numbers don't.

  5. I'll just say this. If the Nets decide that either Brown, Jr. or Wagler are a better choice than Acuff Jr. if available, they better be damn sure!

Because if Acuff Jr. projects to what most Nets fans anticipate and Brown Jr. or Wagler struggle in anyway, this fan base will absolutely turn on the Nets organization. This is not the pick to be experimenting with.

Calipari has called Acuff, Jr. the best guard he's ever coached. Take that as you may!

  6. There is no way in hell we are picking Acuff, we had a guy like that who we just cut. It is pretty clear we are going to pick Kingston Flemmings, he is the exact kind of guy the management is into right now. Adday Mara has a small chance too since they are looking for bigs who can pass and there is a spanish connection with Jordi.

  7. I am happy with whoever the Nets will pick but I will be so excited to watch Acuff vs Brunson in MSG and Barclays next season.

Mikel Brown Jr looks legit as well and actually reminds me of Haliburton.

  8. If the Nets don’t love any of the guards , I would trade down a few spots to get a forward/center.

Aday Mara is intriguing. When is the last time the Nets had a true seven footer? Lopez?

  9. Mikel Brisn Jr. averaged 18 pts in a season he was dealing with injuries. He’s the only guy I can see fans getting just as excited about as Acuff. He’s got the crazy handle, driving ability , passing, and deep 3 shooting that no one on our roster has.

  10. Acuff has to be the pick man Brooklyn would be electric baby Kyrie ai type shi marks would get Nico level hate if he passes

  11. Would love to see the Nets acquire the 12th pick as well. Having the 6th and 12th pick in this draft would be excellent. Maybe Mara slips to 12, or Yaxel or Morez. Hell, maybe Burries slips or they reach for Karim Lopez (who Marks apparently likes) or even reach for Stirtz and just move on from some of the guards from last year. Lots of great options with 6 and 12.

  12. Brian Lewis reported that the Nets took an early look Aday Mara and I’m in Favor.

The more I keep thinking about it the more I am bullish on the nets, going to completely different direction and that would be trying to build a contender for next year or least a team that could make some impact.

We aren’t in a position to get AJ or Peterson and because of that I believe that Plan B should be it’s time to go for it. I like the guard crop, but I don’t see any of them really being those franchise guys. And therefore I’d rather take a chance on five good years left of Giannis then hoping that Darius Acuff is an outlier and decides to start playing defense. By the way, they’re very few examples of guys who were terrible defenders in college and then become really good defenders in the NBA. It just doesn’t happen. It’s an effort stat and if you don’t have the motivation effort in college, you don’t just get that because of Coach says play hard harder so I’m not buying it.

What would be the best scenario for the Nets to become contenders? It would be to trade for Giannis. Draft Aday Mara the best defensive anchor in the draft and team them with MpJ and Egor and then go out on free agency and sign CJ McCullum for PG. Then you can keep adding to that but you now have a core that can compete for something for the next five years. And then you have the draft capital to do another rebuild if you need to down the road but right now if we don’t make a move like that, we’re gonna be stuck in purgatory for a long time.

The tank was a failure because you didn’t get that franchise player and now that guy is not coming out of the draft at least for the next three years there’s no player coming out moving forward that is even close to as good as Giannis. There was also a little Hope of you trying to take a young franchise player away from another team because most young franchise players sign their first super max deal with the team. So what is the fairly young franchise player that you believe is better than Giannis that’s gonna hit the free agency market or be open to a trade in the near future I can’t think of any. Do you want Zion Williamson? Trae Young? JA Morant?
I don’t love the idea of giving Giannis a five year contract, but he is the best available superstar still in his prime that still has the ability to make the nets watchable.
We gotta win next year folks not because of Houston, but because there’s no point in not trying to win.
