Which players outside of the second tier of guard prospects would you want the Nets to consider with the 6th pick? Why?
I'm glad Hannes Steinbach was mentioned. He's a guy that I have in the STAR POTENTIAL category. Led the NCAA in rebounding (11.8 per). Can shoot anywhere on the court, reliable go to option in the post, blocks shots, high basketball IQ and motor. Just 19 but NBA ready.
Brayden Burress I see as a long term rotation player (starter or backup depending on the team) but not a potential star in my opinion. A trade back target for sure but definitely not at #6.
Aday Mara I don't see as a future star but a solid NBA player. Will block alot of shots, be an above average rebounder and reliable finisher in and around the paint. A good TRADE BACK candidate but definitely not at #6.
Karim Lopez like the other guys coming straight from overseas have not dominated where they are/were playing at. I would have to put more emphasis on performance with them than college players. All of their statistics are underwhelming. Would be disappointed if Sean Marks drafted any of these overseas guys. I think we went down this road already with Nolan and Ben.
Erik do you think its possible to get acuff and we trade him for boozer ? we can give grizzlez 2 first round picks + acuff
Yaxel Lendeborg is a STRONG trade back candidate. A five position player at 6"9', 250lb. Can do everything on the court including defend all five positions. Played great when the lights were the brightest and was a champion and MVP of the NCAA Tournament this year. His age makes him an impractical option at #6.
I know! Let's pick another guard who can't shoot or play defense!
A player like Mara will have a super high floor and has untapped potential that could make him a top player in the league if the scoring, free throw shooting hold up. That’s who we need to target players with high floors with untapped potential rather than the boom bust highlight merchant
Tarris Reed, Jr. (aka TRJ) of UConn had a good regular season and great NCAA tournament yet is still VERY OVERLOOKED.
TRJ is projected to be an early to middle 2nd round pick according to multiple mock drafts including ESPN. WHY I DON'T KNOW. I'm my opinion, he's a steal as a second rounder. TRJ was one of the best performers in the NCAA Tournament featuring his Wilt Chamberlain like 31 points and 27 rebounds performance against Furman University. Against the monster Michigan Wolverine frontline of Mara, Lendeborg, & Johnson, Jr. he scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. In addition, he outplayed Mo Krivas of Arizona and the twin Ivisic bigs of Illinois in the tournament. He's a 6"11', 265lbs senior who averaged 14 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks (60% FG, 61% FT) in the regular season and 19 points, 13 rebounds, 1.5 blocks (54% FG, 77% FT) in the post season. Can play the 4 & 5 positions and I would expect him to emerge as the Nets starting center as early as his first season. VERY IDEAL CANDIDATE TO PICK AT #33 IF STILL AVAILABLE. Worth trading into the mid 1st round to get him or via a pick acquired by trading #6.
