All Signs point to this…

1. The Rockets have in-house stats that only they look at, and Amen is said to be a statistical hog in their system. I'm sure they'll give him the contract.

2. I think when amen is used right he will be elite with a good point guard and if the rockets play faster. Not a max player though because he is to easy to skim in the playoffs.

   At 250m I would expect the player to be able to drive the half court offense at least some amount. The only exceptions I can come up with who got that kind of contract is Chet, who is an NBA champion, and Mobley, who I would argue is not quite worth it. I would try to get Amen at ~200m with a player option, basically a bit more than Sengun who made an All-Star team before signing his extension.

8. Houston would be foolish to split Alpi and Amen. They have great communication. Get rid of KD get a couple of dependable 3 point shooters and get Alpi some down time with a dependable center. That’s where Houston’s future is. KD will destroy whatever will be left of that team.

For the rockets to be in this situation where they got a one dimensional bum like Amen Thompson who can’t shoot but yet to be due a max contract of $250 millions, just shows the incompetent of GM, Rafael Stone. This kind of contract should have gone to J.Green. Alpi and Amen doesn’t have the profile to be the face of a franchise. Neither one of them have demonstrated they can carry an offense. 🙄 It just shows, this organization is led by a bad GM that doesn’t know talent and end up making bad contracts you can’t trade when they get exposed as a fraud. Case in point: Alperen Sengun. He is a bad contract now that he is exposed as a fraud. And it’s incompetent GM like Stone that ruin your team’ future for years to come. It’s so sad we have a clueless Owner that doesn’t see this trainwreck Stone steering the Rockets into. Alpi should have never been acquired by the Rockets. It should have been Trey Murphy at the 16th pick. And C.Whitmore should have been the 3rd pick and Amen, the 20th pick. Cam should have been prioritized over Amen…and so should have Reed. Amen and Alpi should have been traded for KD. Stone messed up everything!
