During would be better off, served as a power forward he’s not a center
We're in a real dilemma with Duren. He's only 22 years old – the same age as Michigan's best player this year. So lots of room to grow, but I don't know how we max him along with Cade? So not sure where this is going, but I'd hate to lose him for nothing that's for sure.
Jalen duren would be a huge upgrade. I forgot what it was like to have a lob threat. Even if it’s Nick Richards 😭😭😭
If we get Durand and this team stay healthy with the acquisition of 4th pick 15th pick then we making the playoffs and I believe the Bulls would be a better fit for Durand than the Detroit pistons because tho cade may be a playmaker he's not on Giddey level when it comes to making plays for your team and Durand would get the most easiest buckets with Giddey than Cade IMO
This is the only take that I’m not with you on lol
If you could get him for 25 mil that would be amazing. Him and Claxton had surprisingly terrible seasons.
And as bad as I would want Durand here I don't think Detroit will let him go because of everything you just said about him I think they build around Cade and Durand even if that means trading Ausar it's hard to find a center in this league and one of Durand's caliber!!!
Prime opportunity to buy low on a high potential player
No Duren. I would wait what happens with Hartenstein. Also, Bulls 1st free agency target should be Easton. Even with Wilson, Buzelis and Essengue. I think we could play all 4 + Giddey. That would be kinda what Raptors are trying to do.
I know it's not fair to compare Issac Okoro to Duran by any means but I thought because he started on a 65 win Cavs for multiple years he would be good for us and I didn't like what I saw one bit.. I'd take a chance on him but what is he actually gonna do for us? Get us to the playoffs? I'd take a chance on him but I can't see him leaving and coming into a rebuild and new front office and think he'll have an immediate impace.. In the long run we should just do the rebuild the old fashion way.. signing Duran right now is a AKME move, I really just want to get better naturally
This is exactly what I've been saying. Did he have an abysmal playoff run? Sure. Dude's 22, though, and could iron out those issues after some work.
ETA: it also screws a division rival if the Pistons choose to match a higher offer from the Bulls.
No
WALKER KESSLER #PREFERRED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
honestly like the idea of snagging Duren cause it’ll give us the freedom to after a Cameron Carr with the 15th pick. idk if i like 32-35 mil a year though
Focus on Peyton Watson instead. You could always find serviceable center in free agency or the draft
Agreed he’s been one of my favorite young big en in the league BUT no chance they letting him walk.. he is 22!!!!!
i dont know why you would want to give 35M a year to a guy you dont want under pressure to be a major part of the scoring, if you can't trust him with that pressure, don't give him that much
I still disagree. He is not a stretch 5. If we get him along with our #4 pick which most probably would be Caleb Wilson, spacing might be bad. I love Duren, but I would rather have a stretch 5 big man.
Pistons are gonna sign him don’t overthink it
imo our cap space is better served absorbing a bad contract for assets and keeping our timeline. duran objectively accelerates the timeline but w not enough other pieces to be meaningful contenders
I would we have to spend the money on someone
Center is the hardest spot to fill. Detroit, like any other team would fools to let a 22yo all star center go elsewhere. I disagree. The bulls should not waste their time. Us you cap hold on someone more realistic. Plenty of moves can happen while you are waiting to get rejected by a player that you are more than certain isnt leaving and if he does leave it would be cause someone gave up a bad contract.. Hard Pass.. This year the Bulls should be pulling in players that have 1st round pick attached to them, you dont go big game hunting on a rebuild team that doesnt have a #1 or #2 playoff team level player.. This team has a bunch of 3rd options and overpaying for another one just show the Bulls were not smart enough to learn from the Zach contract, the Debo contract, otto porter, rip Hamilton, tim thomas. Like why bring in guys that are not going to move the needle but are going soak up valuable minutes (xp) from players that the Bulls should be developing via real game minutes?
Are we forgetting we have are big LACHLEN OLBRICH😂
No he’s too soft
Depends on how much. I think if his price tag is North of $35 mil a year. I think I'll pass and go a cheaper route or develop thru the Draft
They’re going to pay him… who will they replace him with? He may have cost himself a few mill but they’re keeping him.
bigman PWIL
Imagine ending the offseason with a starting lineup of Giddey, Carr, Buzelis, Wilson, and Duren
I personally would pass. The reason for his struggles are big red flags just lack luster effort and that’s what his game is centered around
Why use our cap space to take on a decent, but not franchise altering player just to go back to the play-in? 30 mil is a lot for a player that has clear weaknesses in the playoffs. We should be using cap to take on bad contracts to acquire assets.
The Bulls already have one head-case in PWil, if Duren follows suit, the Bulls will be bad for years.
I’d take a reasonable risk
Why surprised??? They are a very young team and have no playoff experience. They came into there own against the Knicks last year and have grown. But look a young team with bright future.
Detroit is not letting him go. Nice try…..
I’d offer as much as 40-45 a year, dare the pistons to match. He averaged 20/10 over 70 games and struggled due to all the same reasons that Cade did, their team can’t space the court at all.
I'm on the same page as you. We aren't competing this season and whomever we draft can come off the bench behind him. Being mid is rebuilding now lol
If Duren is okay with a shorter contract, especially one with a team option, a 3yr/130 is an overpay I don't mind. By the time it comes to sign rookie extensions he can be moved as an expiring or extended on a more appropriate deal. I wouldn't go over 32m if he wants more than 3 years
I would only pursue Jalen Duren if we draft Cam Boozer because their skill sets naturally complement each other. Boozer gives us the floor spacing, shot creation, and offensive versatility we’ve been missing in the frontcourt, while Duren brings elite rebounding, rim protection, and physical interior presence.
Bulls better make an offer
Detroit will match most offer
No. The last Pistons center the Bulls signed did not pan out.
Are you all crazy? Why should all that trash come to Chicago? Jalen Duren is a case for the Shanghai Sharks. What’s wrong with all of you? The guy is absolutely not a playoff player.
Stay far far away from Duren. How can we expect him to defend the likes of Allen, Mobley and Giannis?!
I think any free agency signings would happen after the draft
They won't do it. It's obvious the front office has no intention of winning a championship. How long have they been playing the "Rebuild card?" They don't care. The Bulls are not winning nothing for a long time. If you are a real Bulls fan. You know I'm saying facts
Kessler is always injured
Agreed 100% on making an offer. This would take away a Central Division rivals 2nd best player from them which is key. I don't think Boozer would fit, though. 2 big guys at 250+ Lbs won't work. Need a fast big to complement him.
Doesn't matter if he came up short during this last series. Remember Jarrett Allen's quote about 'lights were too bright' for him? Well look at him now. Duren is a 22yr old all-star who will only get better. a team will offer him the max (maybe us) and DET will match.
Nahhh, I'm good!
