Would The Mavericks Drafting Aday Mara Signal The End Of One Of Their Centers’ Time In Dallas?

Aday Mara has seemingly shot up draft boards after the combine, with some pegging him as a top-10 pick. His defensive prowess, passing ability and size has intriguing potential for any team, but with the Mavericks already having Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford on their roster- is there any chance they’d use a top-10 pick on another center? And, in the scenario that they do, would that mean they’re moving on from Lively II or Gafford? We discuss those questions, evaluate Mara as a prospect and dive in to his potential fit as a Maverick.

  1. Sign Ihart in free agency and see what Lively value is again…..Then see if you can trade 1 of the wings for DWhite…I think people say PJ, but he can rebound & hit the 3 when he's on. Naji is nice but a point forward'ish…..He needs the ball at times, you can put PJ in that 3 & D position again…..Also this trade exception I'm finding out about what are they going to get. I am also looking at Burries, wow he is perfect for the team, reminds of a great guard role player, definetely good for the bench. Cisse keep, John P on the 2 way…I think Nembhard or Williams you have to choose 1.

  2. Players who are that big usually have short careers. Players who are 7' 3" generally play in the NBA for about 4 to 6 seasons. The taller you go, the shorter the career. It is just biology. On the flip side, there are only 3,000 people in the entire world who are 7 feet and taller. Three thousand out of 8 billion.

  3. The way you stop Wemby is either:
    1) Have someone like Luka who averages 30+, 11, and 10 against him. ( Luka Dončić holds a perfect 6-0 career head-to-head record against Victor Wembanyama.)
    2) Have two bigs like OKC playing at once.

  4. Mara isn't a weak guy, his parents are pro basketball and volleyball players and he's played soccer and volleyball before being scouted by a Spanish pro basketball team. Maybe that's why he moves so well for his size.

  5. I keep saying if teams are to compete with the Spurs and the Thunder there going to need 4 starting centers. Not meaning to play them all at once. As some will have injuries
