SURPRISE MOVE: If Cameron Boozer Is Picked First, WOULD Utah Jazz Draft or SKIP AJ Dybantsa?

Utah Jazz face pivotal draft decisions as buzz builds around Cameron Boozer and AJ Dybantsa. Could Washington shock everyone and snag Boozer at No. 1? David Locke weighs the risks, potential, and key weaknesses of top 2024 NBA Draft prospects, questioning if any are true “can’t miss” stars à la Victor Wembanyama or Cooper Flagg. Statistical deep dives reveal doubts about Dybantsa’s shooting upside, while the cases for Darren Peterson and Caleb Wilson spark heated debate.

Key conversations revolve around Utah Jazz’s best player available strategy, positional fits for Lauri Markkanen, and offseason trade scenarios including possible moves with the Chicago Bulls. David Locke critically examines collective team energy using real NBA examples, unpacks the impact of new lottery rules on the Jazz’s future, and breaks down free agency implications for Walker Kessler. Can the Jazz maximize their draft haul and roster construction for long-term success?

  1. ALL of this discussion is the media, x100 now with all the clicks chasing for online media and "influencers". The actual team decision makers and staff just blow cover smoke like ALWAYS!

  2. DP was #1 for most until March. AJ impressed as DP had health/availability issues. Boozer did what he's done for years. Just win effeciently dominate. The question is can he play the same way against the consistent height and strength he will face against the world's best every night. Most all have the same question of course but this is the main question with Cam and his game.

  3. Rest easy, it's just in the media that this is a three horse race, and can be chalked up to a bunch of "pre-draft misdirection" (aka smoke and mirrors).

After all these years, DL, I'm surprised you of all people are falling for this nonsense. The Wizards are taking either AJ or DP, and most likely AJ.

It feels like you're running a bit low on content, and are trying to create more drama than actually exists.

  4. Ryan Smith stated in the recent interview he gave, Ainge does not care what anyone thinks, he will take the best player and figure out how to use him. That is how the Ainges work.

  5. Washington is not taking Boozer. I think it's 80 percent they take AJ. If not him then DP. If another person were to jump them I think it would be Wilson and not Boozer, but that has a slim chance of happening imo.

  6. They're different players, not is AJ clearly better than Ace? AJ better getting to the rim in college for sure, Ace made improvements, but still needs to work on that. Other than that…. AJ having a stronger handle is better playmaker, but Ace can pass and his handles is his only major negative. AJ has a bigger stronger build… But… Guys fill out.

Peterson isn't the physical Marvel AJ is, not the height of Ace… But he has a complete game and great size for a guard that can maybe get strong enough to defend the 3 too
