And some recent mock trades involving Paul George are starting to surface. One of them from ESPN would send Paul George to the Detroit Pistons, and the other from Bleacher Report would have the Sixers trading both Paul George and VJ Edgecombe to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Donovan Mitchell and Max Strus. McCain was mainly traded because he was not going to be a starter over Maxey and VJ so the most valuable non-starter on the Sixers who would return a first round draft pick this year was McCain. McCain would also help team duck the luxury tax. Morey should be ashamed if this is even possible for being in this situation without a first round pick in 2026 so he had to trade away his 2025, 17th pick in McCain who offers more all around upside compared to Grimes. Grimes was never even a lock to stay with the team beyond this year. If this was politics, one could easily think that Morey was a Manchurian candidate.
Btw, Sixers do not need Donovan who who would be another short dude for their position. They have enough undersized players which already creates defensive issues for the team.

RUSSELL WESTBROOK! True point guard, willing to come off the bench, vocal leader, will not let young guys play soft, 3.6 million vet minimum, last year stats 15 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists. Send Grimes packing! Then resign KO, and still have your mid level exception to bring in a mid tier player.

Jared McCain is in a situation that allows him to succeed. Rim protection, 3nD, solid support staff, MVP point guard. He just needs to be one of the two snipers that all teams need now. His basketball IQ is high. Should have sold high on MAXEY. McCain is on a rookie contract, and Maxey is on a max contract. Not super max but over 35m a year.
I wouldn’t trade vj for Mitchell vj is going to be a star
