  1. Ingram is worth having, unless there's an upgrade. Getting rid of him for the 15th pick and filler, why would they do that? he was an Allstar this year, and was injured in the playoffs. Worth keeping around. just focus on getting rid of Poetl even if it costs a pick

  2. Every time the raptors rebuild, they do it this way, and the media still hasn't figured out their strategy.

They go into talent acquisition mode and just pay them so they have a variety of contracts that can be used to consolidate, and they take a year or 2 and decide who they want to keep, build value in the guys by becoming a winning team, and then consolidate when a good buy low opportunity arises for a disgruntled star.

It's the same process every time. The only reason they have Brandon Ingram is because it was a buy low chance to see if there's proof of concept for this type of heliocentric scorer beside Scottie. He was never going to be the guy in that position long term. Same with IQ and RJ.

You guys are thinking too short term imo. They were never going to pounce on anything within 2-3 years anyways because they don't have the talent to do that. This a longer play and that's why the contracts align the way they do. You have to see the bigger picture

  3. What Bryce is describing about Gradey Dick is what the Knicks did with Obi Toppin, moved him for weak second round picks in order to clear up space to sign Divicenzo

  4. As much as I would try to use Ingram as the way to get off the poeltl deal (like those two plus gradey for lavine and monk or something like that), I don’t think Toronto would do that. Think it’s way more likely they are patient with this group and mostly run it back with internal growth and margin additions.

  5. Poeltl is not the center of the future for us, and Mamu is a PF mascarading as a center. IQ isn't the pg of the future for us either, and Shead is a great backup but not a starting pg, and Brice starts talking about wings 😂

Raps fanbase draft targets is like:

Tier 1 if they fall take them: Swain, Steinbach, Philon, Carr, Burries

Tier 2: Okorie, Christian Anderson, Quaintance, Morez Johnson

Tier 3 Mayyybe (we'd just trust the front office, but not guys that most fans want): Cenac, Stirtz, Allen Graves

DND list: Ament, Koa Peat, Karim Lopez

Reaches that fit: Veesaar, Baba Miller, Zuby Ejifor (personally not a fan for us), Josh Jefferson, Sergio De Larrrea

This is the consensus among the die hard raptors fans. People quivel within those tiers but this is what they want. Guards and bigs are priority. Which probably means Bobby will do the exact opposite and take Zuby Ejifor or something 😂

At 50, most fans are settled on: Ugonna Onyenso, Bruce Thorton, Baba if he falls that far, Quadir Copeland, Luigi Suigo. We were all pretty let down that Chinyelu went back to school

  6. Thanks for talking about the Raptors so positively and taking them seriously. You predicted they would get in the playoffs even before the season started.

  7. RJ accepting $25 Mil, while Mamu gets even talked about for 15 Mil is nasty work. RJ was as good as Scottie in the playoffs. Mamu could not have been more terrible. RJ led Toronto Starters in Net Rating, the highest offense & defensive rating were with RJ in the lineup, RJ was the most efficient starter outside of Poetl, 2nd in usage & ppg, highest scoring and most efficient 4th quarter player, team had a losing record in gms he didn’t play. It seems you guys value RJ, while not realizing just how impactful he’s been for Toronto. RJ shouldn’t be committed to staying. Toronto needs RJ a lot more than RJ needs Toronto. I would like to see RJ in Det, Cle, Dal, LA, Den, etc. I don’t think IQ was good last year either.

  8. As a Raptors fan I think this is pretty spot on from Sam. I'm of the same mind on pretty much all of it. Move Gradey, stick with Poeltls terrible contract for now, try re-sign Barret for a reasonable number and move Ingram. And honestly? I think getting a pick just outside the lottery for Ingram would be smart even if it makes us worse short term. We NEED cost controlled contracts, and this draft honestly looks like there is a lot to like right around 15 for us

  9. @game theory the report at the trade deadline was, teams willing to eat IQ and Jak contracts for 2 unprotected picks each. if anything good coming back, you adding more firsts.

  10. @game theory BI isnt a long term fit in toronto, and they cant afford to pay him his raise he will want to stay in toronto. and his agent said he only came because of the money. so BI will leave unless he gets 55-60 milion a year in his next contract. so they do have to move BI.

If bulls offered the 15th pick, 38th pick and essengue for BI, i would take that since raptors cant resign BI anyways. and the raptors showed they can win without BI in the playoffs. Especially if the raptors can clear some cap space in the deal. i would even give the bulls gradey dick as a flyer in the deal. I think on a young team with playing time, gradey dick can get a fresh start and do well.
