Is Tyler Herro The HERO For The Detroit Pistons? Or Is His Defense Too Much Of A Weakness?
Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat shakes the NBA landscape—could Tyler Herro end up with the Detroit Pistons as part of a blockbuster three-team deal? The conversation focused on the fit, risks, and defensive concerns of acquiring Tyler Herro, while weighing his offensive talent against Detroit’s vision for a versatile, defensively strong lineup built around Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson.
A key theme that emerged was the likely trade of Isaiah Stewart, with discussion exploring his value, contract situation, and potential destinations like the New Orleans Pelicans. The debate touched on Paul Reed’s breakout potential, Jalen Duren’s upcoming contract—expected to command upwards of $40 million annually—and how these roster moves could shape the Pistons’ future. Several points were raised, including draft coverage plans and reactions to NBA Finals chaos, making this episode essential listening for Detroit Pistons fans following trade rumors and off-season strategies.

Sign him. Our dumb ass coach doesn't care about defense, even though he says he does. If he cared about defense, he probably would've played Holland, green and Reed in the playoffs. Bickerstaff is full of Trump
I rather keep stew let duren walk with that bullshit contract. Especially if we can get something good for duren
Much rather have kyrie than herro
I’d rather have Norm Powell, and he’d cost less
I dont understand why the Bucks would allow Herro go to the Pistons in the Giannis deal because the rest of the package is minor to solid players. The rest of the trade package the Bucks would get for Giannis is at best a high risk gamble that might yield a return that pays off long term.
Honestly If I were the Bucks I would rather try to trade Giannis to the Pistons for Duren in a sign & trade extension once free agency opens. I dont know if the Pistons want to give up on Duren but I think getting Giannis is the perfect solution if you dont want to over pay Duren.
I dont know if the Bucks would want to give Duren 40-50 million per year but at least he has upside plus he was an All Star who is only 23 combined with a filler contract (who depends on Duren's contract terms, the closer the salary is to what Giannis is paid the smaller the salary match contract you need ) plus throw in 1sts & pick swaps that is a better return for Milwaukee. If you dont have to include Levert you can move him plus Beef Stew for another vet piece that is your top reserve or 4th scoring option. Cade, Giannis, Harris and solid 4th vet scoring option solves the issue the Pistons had in the playoffs.
Levine is on a expiring contract rather than Hero Just think a Mike Brown would had impactful if Piston HC ❓🙃 ..You-all seen the Spurs 4 guard hobbit ball ⁉️😳 Duran 6 9.. 😮
Why are the Pistons taking on Miami players? We already have Duncan Robinson.
So sounds like you don't mind bringing in a bad defender as long as they bring something else besides offense and they have size. If your priority if improving Tobias' spot then what do u want so do to fix Duncan's spot?
Reed is really good for his role, but when he plays it’s always fresh, in short bursts of minutes, and his role has never came with a lot of expectation. If you are trading a big, Reed is the lowest risk person to trade. His trade value has never been higher after these playoffs. Some salary combo of Reed, Caris, Sassar, Duncan can get you a good player in return and they are all on good contracts which makes them desirable. I’d keep Stew, he’s such a big part of the culture and way more proven as far as a sample size.
I'm in the camp of signing a FA guard (*cough* Ayo) and trading for a PF compared to the other way round. I'd much prefer a guard that can take the ball-handling/playmaking reps off Cade, but Herro does provide solid shot creation as a 2nd option. Agree he's not a good defender, but it's not like TrashCan and Tobias are lockdown specialists. If he commits to buying into the team defensive scheme & the price is low enough, gotta at least have a discussion
26:18 Knicks fans are the worst
what do you think of dejounte murry? he's long, athletic, and he could be not too expensive since he just came back from achilles tear.
Let try for lavine
Evdry B.S,. podcast on line has a done deal pick up for the Piston. BALONEY!!!
Paul Reed grades out better. Not to mention, Stewart is a hothead who is always in foul trouble.
Is Herro’s defense worse than Duncan’s? Honestly not locked into his defense like that.
Stu is not this great trade chip that he's made out to be. It's going to take more than just him to get a major talent in Detroit.
I like doing my contracts with PvE. I had a hard completing them last season. I eventually fell off of the game. I’m enjoying this season so far.
Pistons should look at Kevin Porter Jr. 6’5”, creates off the dribble, shoots the 3, plays defense, can get him for cheap if he’s willing to opt out of his contract. Only a $5M contract. Only 26. And he’s NASTY!!!!
not a done deal for miami reports are that he sees the window with jayson tatum as a better chance to win
I think Tyler is the best fit for Detroit 💯
I do not feel confident that we will trade Stew. If we do, it will be a huge mistake. Stew is by FAR our best defensive big. He’s a guy who has accepted his role as a backup five and at one point as a stretch four. Stew is the identity and heartbeat of this team. I’d be disappointed if we traded Stew. Neither Duren nor Reed can do what Stew does on defense.
Reed wasn’t a third string caliber player when we got him. He was a primary backup behind Embiid in Philly. He not only started significant games for the Sixers at center, he did it at the four as well. When he came to Detroit he was uber productive in every opportunity presented to him. That being said, if we traded BBall Paul, I’d be ok.
