On the other end, the AJ Dybantsa is most likely to hit is worst case scenario, but that is still really good whereas Darryn Peterson is the safest pick of the draft.

  1. Out of all the busts you mentioned you made the connection to height and size and made the comp to boozer as the biggest risk.

Others may see the mental, personality, injuries, off the court combination soup and make the comp to Peterson as the biggest risk.

  2. Agreed. Booz is iffy, DP is “safe” (if medical check out). I’d imagine that his cramping woes are far behind him. NBA crews will know how to keep him healthy, and he’s motivated to do so himself.

  3. I don't get everyone's love obsession with Cam ( his dad had a 2nd round ceiling ) Boozer. I've lived during the Boozer and Williams years. They ( for the most part couldn't get past the 2nd round. ) nor could they ever beat the spurs. No thanks on Boozer 2nd round ceiling 2.0

  4. Best AJ Dybantsa comp is a 6’10 Demar Derozan. Per jackpotting around podcast.

AJ interviews too much? Not a team guy? David’s reaching. There are some facts about AJs character.

    1) He played multiple 40 minute games. Some of which came after Saunders went down with 6 games left in the year where it really would have made sense to shut things down and not risk injury (look at what happened to Toppin at the same time)

    2) He played significant stretches out of position. He played back up point guard.

Both of these are AJ stepping up because of 6 season ending injuries to his team. 2 of which were lead guards at the beginning of the season. That’s character.

You are out of line this offseason David. And just a reminder if 6’4.5 DP is 6’6 than 6’8.5 Dybantsa is 6’10.

  5. You already know the jazz are gonna do something stupid and they’re gonna draft Cameron boozer because his dad works in the front office. That’s just the way things go with the jazz

  6. Holmgren ,the dude Presti called an "underdog" 🤣gave Orlando the cold shoulder in pre draft interviews so he could bask in the riches in OKC–Even with fellow Gonzaga alum Suggs in Orlando

  7. I love your podcasts and listen almost every episode. It isn't just you, but can we stop saying wrong heights. We have measurements.

  8. Boozer’s combine numbers sure don’t indicate 250lb Boozer has heavy legs. I’m going with the numbers on this one David. I don’t think your peers know what they’re talking about.

  9. 3:05 not me i still believe it's DP, AJ, BOOZER & WILSON once the college season was over I flipped Wilson & boozer. Wilson plays with heart and hustle you can't teach & he's athletic and can guard the floor

  10. The Ace Bailey "better shooter" than AJ is a joke. David, get real.
    College comp:
    Bailey: 34.1% 3pt
    Dybantsa: 33%
    Bailey: 46%fg
    Dybantsa: 51% fg

  11. If DP's medicals check out it is even more of a quandary. Because if there is no medical issue, then why the spotting availability. Available to play is the most important "talent".

  12. Boozer would get dominated by wemby, saying that he's the perfect player to stop wemby is crazy too! He's either too small for the position or too slow for other positions lacking athletism.

  13. Nice Ace v AJ comparison. Ace can play with anybody as a movement shooter. I agree that AJ is slightly more refined due to his ability to get to the basket. However, one thing that Utah failed to let him showcase and probably by design in his rookie year is exactly the way AJ would have to play due to his limitations…. Ace as an isolation mid range player in college was developed way beyond his years… Much like his off ball movement. Ace can be a Carmelo like hub that can hand off, pass, drive or shoot from that position. He has that in his game more than Lauri even.

I believe in Ace ability to improve his strength and handling than AJ ability to play off the ball and defend

  14. I do wonder if Acuff’s stock will rise after this championship. The biggest knock against him has been his size and defense. How that doesn’t translate into winning in today’s game. If the Knicks pull through it will show a small, not particularly defense minded guard led team (heavily tailored to cover his weaknesses) can win at the highest level. There is still a lot of examples of it not working, but recency bias is a strong thing.

  15. I don't understand how you can't find an mvp comp for darryn. They are all over, shai, ant, kobe, mj, ray, wade, don, book, etc. like you probably don't think he can reach that level which yeah is unlikely but as a prospect between hs and college he's shown all the tools, passing, playmaking, athleticism, defense, shooting, as long as he's healthy there's no reason he couldn't get there

  16. I like Boozer and I understand the saying to always draft best player available. However, is Boozer better than JJJ or Markkanen? If they draft Boozer, how does Boozer get on the floor? Will the Jazz have two players making nearly $100 million dollars, sit on the bench. Trade value on either JJJ and Markkanen will tank because teams will know the Jazz will be forced to trade either Markkanen or JJJ, after just paying a premium to get JJJ. If Peterson really has too many red flags, then maybe Jazz should be looking at trading down. I still think Peterson is the best pick for the Jazz.

  17. Ace and aj are completely different players to me. Ace is an off ball shooter/finisher and Aj is an on ball creator and primary scorer. They fit perfect in my opinion I don’t see the comparison besides size and athleticism? And to say “oh no we have to guys with good size that doesn’t work” is crazy
