Giannis to Miami? Heat Insider Anthony Chiang Weighs In

Miami Herald Heat reporter Anthony Chiang joins the show to break down all the latest surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo and why the Heat continue to be one of the most talked-about potential landing spots for the Bucks superstar. He explains how Miami has been connected to Giannis for years, but notes that there’s still no clear indication of where Giannis actually wants to play long term—especially with only one year remaining on his contract and major risk for any team trading for him without a commitment. The conversation also turns to Tyler Herro, who has added fuel to the speculation after unfollowing the Heat on social media, though Chiang points out he’s been in trade rumors for multiple offseasons already. From there, they dive into Miami’s contingency plans if a Giannis deal never happens, including the possibility of running it back with a similar roster while keeping an eye on 2027 cap flexibility. The segment wraps with discussion on which Heat players are most likely to be protected in any deal and how the Knicks’ Finals run shows what it takes to build a true contender.

  1. In the case where Miami cant make a trade, the issue is not “running it back”. The issue is “running it back”the way Miami has been running this team the past 3 years; grinding out your team to end up a 7-10 seed while neglecting the young talent’s development.

IF Miami cant make a trade a trade, then just embrace the lottery and play Ware, KJ, the #13 pick, Pele and JJ and develop these guys. Stop punishing Ware and young talented players bc they aren’t grizzled veterans

  2. why not trade for jaylen brown and markannen? or a kawhi and markannen…. basically anything for the price 2 decent veterans…. instead of gutting the team for 1 dude with questionable injuries. only way that makes sense is to just go all out and get giannis and ja and see what happens 🤷

  3. Does Nick Arison have the bravery to overrule star-lover Pat Riley? New thinking required here. Trading away the most valuable commodity draft picks in salary cap NBA makes little sense. Antetokounmpo by public reports coming out of Milwaukee is over-price, disinterested, gets hurt, and a bad teammate. Hiis two brother are taking valauble roster spots. Doc Rivers was to afraid to apply any consequences. Another Jimmy Butler clone. HEAT disqualified or barely making for play-in and losing first game. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
