Honestly, I think the pistons match up to a point but you can't have him making 40 mill a year when this team has so many other holes, they could find a couple shooters and backup guards with that money. If Duren leaves, they still have Stew and Reed, possibly Tolu as well.
4/178 is the max any other team can offer. We can offer the 5th year. The other teams can make him a 44mil a season man for 4 years. With us having the ability to control for the 5th you’d hope he could bring the price down to something more team friendly to help the team win ala Brunson but I doubt he will…don’t be surprised to see a 5/200 for Duren. It will be a death sentence but at 22 they don’t want him out of their control. You’d hope they would try to figure out a way to send him to like the Bucks for Turner and like Portis. Keep Turner who can stretch the floor and defender for the next 3 years, keep Portis around as a backup big for a few years. Dead money by the end of the season. I’d rather have Turner at 26mil than Duren at 40+.
