The Warriors are unlikely to extend Draymond Green

The Golden State Warriors’ offseason is already getting complicated — and it hasn’t even officially started. After Anthony Slater dropped a loaded piece on ESPN laying out exactly where this team stands, the picture is becoming clearer whether fans like it or not: the Warriors are shifting their philosophy, and this summer might be more about positioning for the future than going all-in for Steph Curry right now.
The hosts dig into everything Dunleavy said at his press conference, what it actually means for Draymond Green’s contract situation, and why the Warriors quietly pulling out of the Giannis conversation is one of the biggest signals yet that this front office is thinking long-term. Draymond has a player option decision looming by June 29th — and if he just opts in, he suddenly becomes a very interesting expiring trade piece. Is that the dream scenario?
On top of that, the Anthony Davis rumors are dead on arrival, the Kawhi Leonard door got slammed shut by Steve Balmer, and Jimmy Butler’s ACL injury may have been the tipping point that changed the Warriors’ entire approach to this offseason.

Topics discussed include:
Anthony Slater’s ESPN report and what it signals about the Warriors’ direction
Draymond Green’s player option and the one-year vs. two-year deal debate
Why the Warriors need a corresponding move to justify keeping Draymond long-term
Steve Kerr’s reported message to the front office: don’t mortgage the future
Anthony Davis trade rumors and why the Warriors aren’t biting
Giannis — from four first-rounders in February to not even picking up the phone in June
Jimmy Butler’s ACL injury as the ultimate momentum-shifter
The Warriors’ financial flexibility heading into next offseason

What do YOU want the Warriors to do this offseason — go all-in for Steph, or build toward the future? Drop your take in the comments.

  1. For the love of god, we need to get younger, not older. Kick his awesome, championship winning, combative, you cost us as least one, maybe two championship-ass to the curb. 🙂

  2. Though I am a Warriors fan I'm not delusional like most Warriors fans. I don't know why some people feel like Draymond Green has to be a Warrior for life. Truth be told the organization is dumb. They should have been traded Draymond Green. For some reason Warriors organization value Green like he's some type of superstar or star player. Green is just a role player who's extremely overvalued by Warriors based on championship in the past. Green is just a role player who is currently declining fast. He was horrible this year so I don't understand why Warriors aren't automatically trying to trade him. Green should have gotten traded years ago. Packages him with some picks n get a star caliber player. Then trade Jimmy n picks for a true superstar player like KD, Kawhi, AD, or Jaylen Brown. Warriors have a ton of picks, use them shits. Stop collecting picks. Warriors suck at drafting n are horrible at developing young talent. Trade all them dam picks n go all in at building a Championship caliber team around Curry. Dumb ass Warriors been so focused on 2 timeline plan n getting ready for what life would be like without Steph while he's still good. Go all in. Sign n trade KP as well. This roster is extremely trash. When Warriors were fully healthy this season they were losing easy winnable games to whack ass teams. They lost a bunch of games while other teams were missing key players. How many years yall tryna be a play in tournament team. Warriors been in the play in tournament almost every season that the dam tournament has existed. Just stating facts, don't mind me.
