The Perfect Fit for Charlotte at 14? | 2026 NBA Mock Draft
The Grind City Media 2026 NBA Mock Draft continues with the final pick of the lottery as the Charlotte Hornets go on the clock at No. 14. Michael Wallace is joined by longtime Hornets beat writer Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer to break down Charlotte’s 25‑win turnaround, LaMelo Ball’s growth as a leader, Brandon Miller’s resurgence, and what this young core needs next to take the leap.
Rod explains why health changed everything for Charlotte this season, how Charles Lee has energized the franchise, and why adding toughness and physicality in the frontcourt is a priority. The conversation leads to the Hornets’ projected pick: a versatile, athletic big who can rebound, stretch the floor, and bring the interior presence Charlotte lacked in key moments.

I don't think an offensive big man is the answer. They need a defensive presence down low 1st & foremost, the offense should be a plus, not the main thing. Rim protection should be 1st priority.
They need a big and should stay with the youth movement. Look at OKC and the Spurs. They should look at Henri Veesaar or Jayden Quaintance or Aday Mara for one of their picks or both.
Aday Mara or Jayden Quaintance 🙏🏾🎯
