  4. At this point it’s become en vogue among MFFL to shit on Nate Ament. It like an inside joke that I’m not in on and I don’t like it 😅. I don’t get it. Looking at the tape the talent is CLEARLY there. He’s a project for sure, but that doesn’t matter in our case because best case scenario we’re a play-in to low seed playoff team for the next 3 yrs. From Masai’s introductory presser he mentioned he learned a lot of things on his time away from basketball about where the league is transitioning. Look at the Knicks who nobody really thought was anything special at the beginning of the season. The mere fact that they had the ability to put 5 guys (w/ KAT at the 5) on the floor who can dribble pass and shoot. Same for OKC last yr (w/ Chet at the 5). And we all know how slow the C’s made us look when they had Tatum playing the 4 and KP at the 5; all can put the ball on the floor. NA rumors might not be a smokescreen after all. If they draft and develop him we have our ball handling 3 and 4 for the next decade (Coop and Ament). If NA continues to grow he can even be a small ball 5 w/ ball-handling skill, and when trying to construct a starting lineup of players who ALL have the ability to put the ball on the floor those are the hardest positions to fill. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Schmidt and Masai zig when everyone else zags. While all the guards are talented they just leave a lot to be desired size-wise (except for Peterson). Brunson is the exception to the rule. I still think you need big guards.
