Are the Timberwolves Wasting Anthony Edwards?
I don’t think the Ant era in Minnesota is over at all. He’s young, and realistically, it’s only been six years. But there are changes that need to be made! It’s good to capitalize on your talent as soon as possible and not wait. That time you think you have can run out very quickly or even in an instant especially when you have a player like Ant who plays with so much explosion. We all hope that doesn’t happen though!

The criticism of Julius Randle feels misplaced because Minnesota’s roster construction has been flawed for years. Randle’s strengths are well known: he’s a physical forward who thrives playing bully-ball, creating from the post, drawing help defenders, and making plays for teammates. The problem is that Minnesota’s roster doesn’t consistently allow him to play to those strengths.
The Timberwolves are often starting multiple non-shooters, which shrinks the floor and clogs the paint. Rudy Gobert’s offensive limitations are well documented, and Jaden McDaniels, while an elite defender, has not developed into the reliable high-volume three-point shooter the offense needs. When your frontcourt lacks spacing and your team doesn’t have a true floor-general at point guard, it becomes much harder for a player like Randle to operate effectively.
This isn’t a new issue either. Minnesota dealt with similar spacing and offensive balance concerns during the Karl-Anthony Towns era. The organization has repeatedly struggled to build a roster that maximizes the strengths of its star players.
McDaniels is an excellent defender, but given his contract and league-wide value, he may be Minnesota’s most logical trade asset. Trading him could potentially bring back multiple rotation players, additional shooting, playmaking, and bench depth—areas where the Timberwolves are currently lacking.
One example could be a deal with Miami where Minnesota receives Davion Mitchell and Andrew Wiggins while Miami receives Jaden McDaniels and either Ayo Dosunmu or Terrence Shannon Jr. Minnesota would add another ball-handler, improve depth, and gain a wing who can contribute on both ends. Miami would receive a younger elite defender in McDaniels, a player who fits perfectly into Erik Spoelstra’s defensive system, along with another young player with upside.
If Minnesota had a roster built around better spacing, stronger guard play, and more depth, and Randle still struggled, then the criticism would be more justified. But blaming him for issues that stem from roster construction ignores the bigger picture.

Dude is 24 years old, went to back to back WCF, just beat the Nuggets last year… And somehow he is wasting his time there.
So he can what… Get traded where? To Atlanta? So they can gut their roster and not be as good as the Timberwolves are now?
Where is he going to where they won't have to gut their entire roster to get him so he will have a better team around him than he currently does in Minnesota.
