Heat fan here. Yeah, they gave up a ton to get Giannis, but where were they headed before? Maybe Ware becomes an All-Star in a few years. Maybe Kaz becomes something. Maybe Jaime develops a jump shot. Maybe Tyler finally figures it out in the playoffs one day. But maybe not. At least Miami is a destination again. My feeling is that mid-tier players are everywhere and roster spots can be filled for cheap with hungry players who can 3 and D. When you got Giannis and Bam playing insane D and getting everyone open shots, you always have a chance.
Getting Brown would have kept Mil in the same place: a mediocre team around one superstars. Mil got 5 good (or potentially good players, incl the 13th pick) added to their own 10th pick plus a couple of more future picks.
For a team undergoing a complete rebuild, this is a great deal for Mil. I believe the coaching change will make the team much better also as the roster was nowhere as bad as the record. It was, however, overly reliant on Giannis and without him ( and kpj), they had little chance to win.
Giannis now also has a chance to contend for the ring again bc Riley and Miami have long proven they can find good fits around superstars to win it all.

If Giannis did that and they did not get a good return, it would have made no sense to trade him at that point and just keep him.
It is not like the player holds every card.
The Miami deal was by far better. As a Bucks fan, I will enjoy watching these young players we have picked up.
I would not have been excited about Brown at all.

I am so tired of hearing how hard this was for Giannis. If it was so hard, he wouldn't have left.
I doubt the Bucks would have kept Jalen Brown if they had traded with Boston. With his high contract and a roster around him that still wouldn't win. The teams who wanted Jalen in a 3-team trade, probably didn't offer the draft picks Miami did. The Blazers were lacking picks to offer.

Not many agree with this assessment of Kelel Ware. Low motor was mostly Kelel getting ticked when after a couple mistakes and others on the team would not be benched, but at times Spo did that. He was not mature enough to handle it well. And Bam bullied Kelel over and over. "Don't steal my rebounds. Bam took almost twice the thees even though Ware was about 8% better shooter. OK my prediction for Kelel first season as a Buck, assumption he plays over 30minutes a game; 18.5pts, 12.5rbs, 2bks with many games over 20pts and almost 20rbs. Not that much less than Giannis
If Spo wanted Ware traded, why did coach not showcase him and why rag on him both diminishing his trade value??? Why did Bam claim he loved Ware when he hogged shots when it was obvious Ware was a better shooter. 2 seasons shooting 60% from two and last season Kelel was the #1 three point shooting center in the NBA 39.5. Ware gets almost twice the rebounds per minute than Myles or Durrant, Blocked more shots than Giannis or Bam, so why Ware only play 21.1 minutes, I would've been discouraged too. Most talented center under 25 in NBA not named Wemby. It is a lot closer than you think.
Bucks fan season ticket holder I prefer the Miami deal we don’t care about a superstar on a mediocre team with no financial flexibility we would be in the same spot Miami deal all day. i’m gonna enjoy watching all these young guys develop under Tyler Jenkins.!!!!
It's not debatable at all. Jaylen Brown was the better asset to pick up. He could have been traded to a half dozen teams in the next year for a haul that would have overwhelmed the Miami deal. In the hands of Anny Ainge, it would have been a windfall of assets. But if you have a weak franchise and ownership, this is the deal you make. And who knows, maybe Giannis had a one on one with the Bucks owner and said that Miami was the only team he was going to go to. So there is that too.

Taking the Boston deal and keeping JB is the dumbest take I've heard. He wouldn't want to play for a rebuilding team and would request a trade or leave in free agency when the young assets would be maturing. If there was a market for a good return for him, this would've been a three team deal. This will be proven when you see what Boston gets when they inevitably move him
so you take jb and then what??? you are in the same situation as giannis but the star is less talented the bucks made a decision on how they wanted to proceed with their team moving forward and 5 years from now (after jb would have left Milwaukee because they hit a dead end) if ware is an all star and kj is a starting level pg and Jaimie is a perennial 6moty candidate(im being very cautious with those ceilings btw I believe they all have the potential to be alot more) how will this trade be looked at?
By Christmas the only East team that will be definitively an odds favorite ahead of the Heat will be the Nicks. Cavs, Celtics, and 76ers will fade. The Heat will maneuver 3-5 more times and fill out the roster.
