Jazz got a “SQUIDDY” 😭
The Jazz real contenders now.. But the Spurs and OKC really ain’t to be FW ..
peterson is just so polished offensively at 6'6 with a 6'9 wingspan. I've been surprised at how often he likes that floater, definitely an NBA guard staple. He's unique athletically in the way that he glides all over the floor, and is just extremely bendy and quick to the rim off the dribble. He isn't an s tier vertical athlete like caleb wilson, but that dosen't matter. His shotmaking has translated as expected, very nice touch as a shooter and has fakes and bumps to get it off in the mid range. His handle is excellent, not really worried despite some of these on ball moments where he can fumble the ball. He has a mid post game by fading over either shoulder, isn't bothered by contact, and after every move that is tight, can square his shoulders very well to the rim. Excellent shotmaking touch. His rim pressure isn't good, but pre injury it was great. But 58% at the rim is still pretty good even with the frequency issues. i'll yap about that in the last part.
He can play at different speeds, and uses that to his advantage. He's also comfortable firing off the catch, in the PNR, and what i love, off movement. versatile shooter who you can run off actions (flare, pin down, blob, wipe, etc.) despite having a very undisciplined shooting mechanics, twisting his upper body after shooting, or snakebiting the follow through instead of holding it. His lower body can twist sometimes as well when he's coming off a screen to shoot, even if he was straight he ends up like at a 90 degree angle. He'll even tip balls in with his left hand, pass with it, and has a good feel when to use it. Very good touch with both hands.
He's fixed some of these tendencies as the season has gone on, and he's a lot more poised with his feet now as a shooter. He dosen't twist his hips and stick his leg out anymore. He's got nice touch with his left hand around the basket, he's a willing passer who knows where his reads are when he's not going really fast. He hasn't been tested as much in aggressive ball screen coverages yet, but we'll see. Defensively his stock numbers and instincts are really doing it in for me. He digs in the gaps but recovers extremely fast, often getting his hand on a pass to steal or deflect it. I think he can get lost in transition on defense here and there, but nothing crazy. His length (6'10 WS) helps him defend on the ball and he's got the twitch and hip flexibility to slide with defenders. He the strength to wall up and force attackers back, offers a rare blend of rim protection for a guard with his size and length. He challenges a lot of shots in that area, and reads the passing lanes like a hawk. Very good defensive upside. A nitpick for his defense could be that he can lack physicality defending ball screens.
His motor is rare of someone who is a primary self creator on offense. The intensity has been there every game, but he can get lost and ball watch sometimes, hurting his value. He hasn't been gambling on defense either. Solid defender with elite upside on defense. However, the manipulation in his playmaking is not there despite minimal flashes. He can make reads if the defense gives him an advantage, like an open roller, or a simple lob, or a kickout driving to the basket. Occasionally he'll dump it off from the corners, or a bounce pass every now and then. He can't create advantages for his team as a passer, and that's okay. His passing versatility isn't exactly complex either. For the most part, peterson is a decent passer who certainly dosen't put the ball in harms way or turns it over.
Because of his injuries, petersons rim pressure has tanked: he's in the 12th percentile for rim frequency, and instead has traded those layups for floaters, which is fine; but he's leaving free throws on the table when he does this. He can't explode vertically at the basket like he used to, and his speed in transition was slower as the season went on. His handle can flubber from time to time, but it's not a major issue. He can play on or off the ball, but you can argue that he's not a PG. Will he able to give his all on defense if he's the no.1 option? probably not. Double teams rush him and can make him throw inaccurate passes and make the wrong reads. Peterson has converted 58% of his shots at the rim, but extremely low frequency and that's his lowest rim fg% his whole career. It is a good % though. He also has the least amount of dunks of his career at 10, which is another very bad sign of his rim pressure. Right now, I think peterson is a 2 who can play the 1 for solid stretches, or in other words a shooting guard who can handle PG responsibilities, but isn't exactly a PG primary. Rim pressure and his passing versatility are his two biggest questions for me.
I like this a lot, feels natural
I can’t believe I’m saying this about the Jazz but they executed this rebuild about as well as you can. Now it has to work on the court but you have a strong veteran front line and 3 young stud perimeter players and some other pieces. I think they can makes the playoffs this year and then just keep it rollint
As a lifelong jazz fan I love this!! Been watching this podcast a lot lately! Teague a dawg for sure! Much love from SLC!!
Where Teague get that hat from?? 🔥
Keyonte is a natural 2, he never played point before he came to Utah, if DP wants to play one, that actually works great for Key.
Lol you gotta read then laugh DJ it's too hard to follow along 😂
Wow they don’t think he can be better than Booker ?
he not better than ace bailey
He could be better than brad Beal .. dude played on the wizards just jacked up shots.. great scorer but that’s it , same with D Book they one dimensional
He's gonna be a LEGENDRY BUST quote me!!!
Booker is overrated
4:36 😂😂😂
(-_-).oO( Portland's owner is nasty. Hires that man on a three year deal with one year guaranteed and two option years is crazy work. )
Wait, so why Teague wearing the Jazz cap but doing nothing but talking shit? Facetiousness look corny on dat boy
Mortimer, we’re back! LETS GO JAZZ!!!!!
Micah Nori signed a three-year contract as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers that features only the first year guaranteed, with team options for the second and third years. — that's a one year deal
lauri and keyonte for brown would be good for both teams
celtics gets more depth around tatum. – george, white, tatum, lauri and the center from last year forgot his name
and jazz upgrade to a 2 way star. – peterson, ace, brown, jjj and kessler
Dont know if Utah fans deserve all that talent. Evilness in that stadium for sure.
Teagues 😅 we need more MJ talk 😂
That Jazz hat is 🔥
Why can’t Key and DP play together? Is there much distinction between the 1 and 2 in today’s game and in some of the free flowing, “positionless” offenses we see these days?
Yall be saying anything b Roy ?? Mf so
Idk why these guys keep saying dp and key can’t play together. That’s gonna be lethal
Explain to me how not to be a guy who's only done something for 1 year is a slap in the face I get it it's a what have you done for me lately. But you don't have a contract extension to a guy who's only done it for 1 year. Also KG was rated as one of the worst defenders. He needs to prove that he can do it more. That's call smart business
Quiet as kept. So does Orlando
Best draft ever…but the number two pick won’t be as good as Bradley Beal!
That Jazz hat 🔥
Honestly, the audacity of these kids to complain about making millions in a certain state especially when a lot of those states don’t even tax heavy like bro if you don’t buy you a nice country home enjoy the view be a cowboy and when you get tired of it, take a trip to wherever you feel comfortable. Don’t sit here and talk about. I don’t wanna go there. Please don’t draft me here like bro just go enjoy what you can cause some people never get a chance to live anywhere but a 50 mile radius.
It’s just weird putting Ace on the bench. He’s to talented to be a sixth man. I’d trade Lauri or Kessler
I'm keeping up with Dp because San Antonio tripping 🎮🏀✊⭐
Brad Beal was losing and averaging 30 lol. went to the suns and was ass he damnear out the league now(injuries aside)
Portland coach is a 1 year guaranteed with 2nd and 3rd year option that includes incentives yup they cheap
Why do these so called nba dudes keep saying the same old tired nonsense. Why drafting peterson means they want to replace George or that now they don't plan on extending George. Why on earth would the jazz trade or not sign keyonte? They can both play on and off ball. These"experts" been saying the jazz gonna and need to trade lauri for 4 years. Didn't happen. The jazz love George u can't replicate the kind of leader he is on and off court. He's under a rookie deal. They also don't need to extend right away either. I love George I believe he's going to become a star but the jazz have no reason to extend him early. As good as he's been he's only been great this past season. His previous 2 years. I legit wondered if he was going to make it. As for his extention the only thing we don't know is if it's going to be for the max rookie ext. Or not. The jazz could say hey we love u. But if ur looking for the max rookie extension then you'll have to do it again. Prove it wasn't a 1 hit wonder. Either way there is no reason they need to extend him immediately. I hope they do.. he's not going anywhere and the idea that peterson just gonna show up and take keys job is ludicrous
