The Warriors Look In The Mirror Moment

Al Horford is back on a 2-year, $14 million deal — and the 95.7 The Game morning crew isn’t holding back.
The crew debates whether the Warriors’ decision to give a 40-year-old a pay raise and an extra year is a bold veteran move or a step backwards for a franchise trying to build toward the future. Is Horford here to mentor Yaxel? Is this really Steve Kerr’s call or Mike Dunleavy pulling the strings? And what does Draymond Green think when he finds out a 40-year-old just got more guaranteed money than Gui Santos — who was arguably the better Warrior last season?
The crew also digs into what this means for Draymond’s contract situation, whether the Warriors are truly committed to running it back with the old guard, and whether Horford’s “player-coach” role for young players actually makes sense when Steph Curry is already in the building.

  1. Warriors need to trade Curry, Draymond and Al Horford. Collect picks and reset. It’s hard to watch this team. Lacob and Dunleavy are chasing memories and Curry’s last run over a needed reset. We are currently 3 years behind a rebuild because of this.

Thank goodness we have the Sharks. All Bay Area GM’s need to learn from GM Mike Grier.

  2. Making a big deal out of this when it's a small thing. The mentorship aspect, plus his presence in the locker room as a whole. BS Dray can get away with with young guys won't fly with Al. He's not looking up to Dray in the way some others are.

Warriors need to make a play for Naz Reid now that he's in Charlotte.

  3. Having Horford to help his fellow Dominican Yaxel is a good move. At this point Horford is a player coach. These guys talking about leaders. The biggest mistake they made was not bringing in Dwight Howard to mentor Wiseman. And Draymond is not going to mentor anyone at this stage, especially the guy trying to take his spot.

  4. What is all this overreacting? Hes a decent mentor piece and wont play significant minutes anyways. If anything ges a great depth piece to have

  5. They actually want him to learn from everybody just like Moses Moody get a little knowledge from Curry and Draymond and get a little knowledge from our Horford and Jimmy

  6. Maybe theyre not trying to go for another big, and theyre letting KP walk (which would be smart). If thats the case, then they need depth at center. They got a veteran backup for a discount. I dont see the big deal

  7. Another pathetic episode of Payton Antique Place, heated arguments over leftovers. As long as Kerr is Koach, Yaxel will rot on the bench like Kuminga and Trayce and on and on and on…

  8. The Dub Woke Culture: promise rooks the moon then throw them under the bus for your pet faves, it's all fine as long as you keep reminding them what great human beings they are…

  9. Kristaps is not going to play. Stop assuming youre gonna have him with any regularity. He has done nothing over the past 5 years to warrant any trust. Dude cant stay on the floor. Crying about Horford, a true stretch 5 who actually plays is silly.

  10. $7 million in 2026 isn't much. For the 21 minutes a game, he played well. Do I wish he played more, yes. 45 games might not be enough. Curry played less games for 8 times the pay. Curry is worth every dollar he gets, I think 7 million is worth it for Horford also.

  11. Having Horford back at $7 million per year is a great signing! What the hell are these idiots talking about? 7 million is cheap as hell and won't hurt their ability to make other signings.
