Jericho Sims and Kevin Porter Jr. Both OPT IN | How Does This Impact the Milwaukee Bucks Roster?

Milwaukee Bucks’ roster continues to take shape as Jericho Sims and Kevin Porter Jr. pick up their player options, raising big questions about the team’s future direction. With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis gone, can Sims’ take advantage of increased frontcourt opportunity and become a breakout contributor under Taylor Jenkins?

Meanwhile, Porter Jr.’s $5.3M opt-in only fuels speculation of imminent trades with a crowded backcourt. Justin Garcia and Camille Davis break down the Bucks’ current cap flexibility, discuss undetermined critical roster decisions, and weigh the potential for new trade scenarios ahead of free agency.

  1. Point guard is a crucial position because half court basketball is ultimately the end game. KJP can be that guy along with the guard we picked up in the Miami trade. Green and Herro look like commodities as Rollins and Barrios look like are off guards

  2. If we’re prioritizing youth, which I’m in favor of, then it feels like the team needs to decongest a bit, especially if we’re still trying to replenish our war chest with picks.

  3. Justin is weeping in his pillow cause KPJ is coming back. Justin literally took KPJ off the team opt in board last week cause – he felt like it. His disdain for KPJ is almost comical. He also stated last week KPJ is 27 when he just turned 25 to 26. What I want to know is what relative got Justin his job on Bucks radio network? And when is he going back to his true calling as a 4th grade little league assistant manager?

  4. KPJ would have had a stronger market if he didn't have 4 leg injuries last year. Much less season ending leg surgery. I guess not worth mentioning on this show.

  5. I feel the same as Justin… I’m excited to see how we pivot out of this. New coach, new scheme, almost a new team. The fresh start with mostly young players is intriguing. I’m onboard for the ride. Let’s go!

  6. I am watching Jalen Duren, closely. Word has it that he wants out. But that could be talking. Jericho Sims has to learn to set screens without fouling. KPJ coming back was key. Bucks are set on many levels and are even fortified to make a move or two. Herro might be gone. We can get good fast with the right deal here and many of you are set in stone on a total rebuild. I am too. But keep your heads up here. We can steal a guy. Under the cap, we now have young assets and some flexibility with a new coach. Exciting times.

  7. Kevin Porter Jr. after watching this guy for a year/ half. I had high hopes, but I'm down on him. I think we should definitely let him go in a trade or whatever we can get for him. Let's do that, especially with the new guy from the heat coming that Euro guy that was a rookie last season. He seems like the kind of guy that doesn't study. He just plays basketball with instincts. I don't think he watches a lot of film that's just my take

  8. Wait. Excuse me? There might be other players weaved into the Giannis deal!? How can they do that? Explain how that is not a done deal on July 6th with what we already know. What is this shifting and adding players? I have never seen that. What the heck.

  9. I’m so happy both are returning in KPG we have a Dawg that we desperately need out there and Sims just needs to get more aggressive in his style of play and he’ll be great. Giannis will be missed but now the ball can actually move

  10. PG: Ryan Rollins, Kevin Porter Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis

SG: Brayden Burries, AJ Green, Tyler Herro

SF: Jaime Jaquez Jr., Tyler Herro, Ousmane Deing, Nate Ament

PF: Kyle Kuzma, Ousmane Deing, Pete Nance, Kel’el Ware, Bogoljub Markovic, Jericho Sims

C: Myles Turner, Kel’el Ware, Jericho Sims, Bogolijuv Markovic

Waive Gary Harris if a 2-for-1 trade isn’t made prior to the seasonal roster being set.

Ideally Kyle Kuzma is dealt. If not dealt prior to the season, he should be showcased for a trade.

It’ll be interesting to see who else might be traded too.

    Porter Jr.
    Green
    Nance
    Turner
    Sims

  11. Hated to see Giannis go. Generational players are hard to come by.
Bucks ended up with a lot of young potential. Now hopefully they can swing a trade for a 1 or 2 option, and someone develops to be a 1 or 2.
