Raptors rookie Allen Graves is VERY misunderstood | Coach Ryan Madry Interview

Santa Clara Broncos Associate Head Coach Ryan Madry had a lot of good things to say about rookie Allen Graves, his fit with Toronto and his journey from 0-star recruit to 19th overall pick.

What’s obvious is that Allen’s work ethic, motor and desire to be great at the next level are undeniable. And as far as what type of level Allen can get to in the NBA, as coach Madry said over and over, “I trust him to figure it out”.

Santa Clara Basketball has seen historic success over the past 5 years, and in 2026, they made the NCAA tournament as a mid-major for the first time since Steve Nash led them there in 1996. Nash also slipped out of the lottery. Nash was also deemed unathletic and undersized. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned since 1990, Santa Clara prospects always exceed their draft position in the pros.

  1. Santa Clara isn’t an NBA factory like Kentucky or Duke. They only have two current NBA players, so adding a third would absolutely be special.

  2. I have been watching you since around 2020 , moved to Canada from Croatia and it’s always so awesome to see people like you represent the balkans . Very good interview as expected .

  3. 20:54 – I don't think he needs to speed up his shot.
If he's not getting guarded, he can shoot comfortably.

If he is guarded, that opens up gaps.

Most importantly, he's got a good pump fake. Why is that? Becuase his release point is high. He can probably get guys to fly by which give him an easy dribble opportunity.
