The problem with the braun deal is that they DIDN’T HAVE TO give him any money until they see what he’s worth on the open market…He would’ve been a RESTRICTED player right now…and even after his improvement last season, is anyone really giving him the money the nuggets ultimately gave him? Nope. If the nuggets had told him to WAIT, they probably save 10million a year for the next 5 years! ((Just take a look at what this organization did with their picks over the past 10 years.)) As much as I love Jamal, I think the new modern NBA guard mold has surpassed him specifically come playoff time. The two man game hasn’t worked the past couple seasons which is why we struggled all season in clutch time.

@29:38 A huge problem throughout the season especially in the playoffs is that Nuggets prioritized offensive players rather than defensive players. The only exception being Spencer Jones. But in the playoffs where offensive production/shooting percentages drop due to various variables, you NEEDED size and defense especially against the Wolves. But Adelman's response in the post game interview was like "Well, the shots just didn't fall? What do you want me to do?" It just showed that he wasn't good enough and leaned too much into offense rather than defense. Nuggets didn't even give Spencer Jones enough playing time when we already knew that AG and Watson were going to be out. We didn't play Zeke Nnaji or even Daron Holmes when Nuggets badly needed size, length, and athleticism to counter the Wolves. I get why Daron didn't play, not playing Daron Holmes in the 2nd half of the regular season was a crime. Now, because Holmes barely played, we have no idea what we have in Daron Holmes. The same principle applied for Peyton Watson and Julian Strawther in a way. This is why Nugget MUST play Holmes and Brazile next season. As for Zeke, he should have played as bad as people think he is as a player. At the very least, he would have offered another layer of defensive versatility AND physicality alongside Spencer Jones. So David Adelman basically made the same exact mistake that Michael Malone made in 2024 against the Timberwolves. Not putting enough size out on the court to counter the Timberwolves. And once again, they had no reliable backup center they could turn to in the playoffs. Adelman was the offensive coordinator behind Malone. Maybe we need a better defensive coordinator or just a more experienced coaching staff in general.
@50:50 I have a conspiracy theory. What if Jokic is waiting to sign the extension after Peyton Watson? I think it makes sense because Jokic wants to know how the offseason goes first before putting ink on paper for a supermax extension. It is absolutely reasonable. Yes, he is eligible to sign the extension right now, but what is the rush to sign when free agency hasn't officially start on July 6th. This also reminds me of how late Jamal Murray signed his max extension in September 2024.
