STAR POWER: Utah Jazz’s Darryn Peterson Impresses in Opening Presser.
Darryn Peterson commands the spotlight as the Utah Jazz roll out the red carpet for their potential next star—nailing the introductory press conference and fueling excitement in Salt Lake City. But does winning the presser actually matter on the court? David Locke breaks down Peterson’s poised performance, leadership potential next to Keyonte George, and how his Adidas deal signals star power in Utah. The conversation shifts to chemistry questions as new additions like Jaren Jackson and Ace Bailey join a roster ready to shake up the Western Conference.
Key discussion points include the Jazz’s strategic use of their $18.4M trade exception versus free agency to bolster wing defense, and the revelation that Lauri Markkanen ranks as the NBA’s most consistent player—setting the foundation for a potential top-four finish in the West. Can Will Hardy’s squad quickly adapt and define its pecking order, or will early-season growing pains test their ambitions?

DP will take the Jazz to the NBA CHAMPIONSHIP 🎉 GO Jazz 🎉
What about calling Peterson the Engine..
It's interesting that Lauri is so consistent game by game, and yet not consistent at all quarter by quarter. He seems to have lots of games with 4 points in the first half and 25 in the second
Why are you using Ai for thumbnails man 😂
The fact that he's not all over the place like dybantsa is refreshing . In today's narcissistic world it's nice to see someone more reserved and quiet. Let his hooping do the talking . Also, his nickname is the boogeyman , he's even said it himself 😊
All his interviews have gotten me so excited!!
We are still a developing team because developing Peterson is the number one goal. I would also say developing Bailey is the number 2 goal. Just going to be winning a lot more than in the past.
Pass on Nurkic. He fell out of the rotation in Portland and Phoenix for a reason. He requires the ball in his hands on offense to be engaged and effective and is below average on defense.
His production last year on a tanking team is fools gold.
Although a small sample size, one player JJJ did get to play with in his three games was Flip and they produced one of the best 2 man lineups all year on the Jazz with a 142 offensive rating and 140 defensive rating. Small sample size yes but they compliment each others weaknesses, space the floor and elevate the players around them. There were reports Utah was intrigued with Boozers fit with JJJ. Flips fit would be the same thought process. A rebounder, rim protector, playmaker and both near respectable shooters.
I think this roster will gel nicely. JJJ is a Mike Conley type who is a fantastic person and knows talent can be wasted. I think there will be plenty of minutes for the core six as Utah will be careful with Lauri and Petersons health, I expect both to play between 25-28 minutes a night not 30+.
Harkless will be the 4th guard.
We will need patience with Walker coming off an injury year and with Ace trying to fit and grow combined with a potential sophomore slump.
Max Strus is the trade candidate that you totally missed. It's rumored that the Cavs are looking to get out from his salary in order to resign Wade. He seems like an ideal fit for what we need.
I think Keyonte is showing all the signs of leadership. Prying the reigns away from him is not going to be easy. I hope they can co-exist cuz if I have to pick one I’m picking Keyonte.
I wonder if max strus would be available
Again, who the hell is that guy in the thumbnail and what has he done with DP?
Always hopeful as a new Jazz season rolls around. Lived at Hill AFB from 83-85. Great Jazz teams from that era. Loved the vibe at the Salt Palace. This season has all the makings of a juggernaut breakout return to glory. Silent assassins from the Wasatch Front. Mountain Mamba mentality. Get used to winning.
Wings on contract: ace, Markkanen, svi, Sensabaugh, and Cody. We have minutes traffic jam as far as I can see.
We don’t have a center not alone a back up (I think jjj is going to see some minutes there but not much and flip but I still don’t know what flip is. Doesn’t look like a center) and I’m not sold that Collier is going to survive this season but we do have Harkless there to pull in case of emergency. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a combo guard added.
The Creatine Cobra is ready to strike!
Locke is such a hack
I thought Darryn was great! Smart, funny, down to earth. He's going to be so fun to root for!
