How do Jerami Grant, Cameron Boozer, and more fit Memphis’ future after Grizzlies trade Ja Morant?

The end of the Ja Morant era was painful, but necessary after a long and difficult conclusion. With Cameron Boozer firmly the new “face of the franchise” and Jerami Grant the newest highest paid Grizzly, what comes next for Memphis? Host Joe Mullinax breaks all that down, plus the point guard position post-Ja and GG Jackson/Olivier-Maxence Prosper’s contract options being picked up, on this episode of Locked on Grizzlies!

  1. I'd be starting Grant at the 3 for sure! Maybe he's not the long term answer at 3 but he'd more than suffice for this upcoming season. I like Jaylen but he's not starting caliber

  2. I didn’t want to get rid of Ja but Grant is a good player, I’m not sure if we needed him because we have to many forwards and I thought GG’s development will be sacrificed. But this coach does sub a lot . I expect more trades so Murray could be attached with santi when he gets traded.

  3. I harldy ever agree with anything Joe says but Wells going to the bench and not starting i definitely agree with! Wells is a bench player he is not a starter. Especially when the Grizz are ready to really compete.

  4. 100% agree with you. Grant is not only a solid, productive pick up, he's not a distraction. If Edey and Ty Jerome can stay healthy, this team can battle for a playoff spot

  5. A players value is more than just talent. Ja has great talent but very injury prone and his attitude could be better. These issues really depreciate his worth. Time to move on. A fresh start for Ja might be the best thing for him

  6. Man i miss ja 😪 after that series with golden state I've never been so excited about and memphis team I wasn't even upset we lost at the time just excited about the years to come so sad what has taken place since

  7. Love the optimism Joe, but na we need more trades. Just like that we’re throwing GG back outta the line up. If GG doesn’t get more minutes this year, just trade him let him blossom somewhere else and see what you can get back. Better yet, flip Jeremi Grant

  8. I think Jerami Grant can be a solid piece for the Grizzlies… if he's not traded. Any truth to the excerpt I saw posted on X that Zach Kleiman was trying to trade up to 5 or 7 in the draft to get a guard (Wagler, etc.)?

  9. Grant should start because Cam and Edey will benefit from his presence on the floor. But that doesn't mean he has to play starters minutes. In fact, keeping him fresh and giving some of our other players more minutes may be the perfect situation.

  10. Didn't get a chance to watch all of this. Any word on GG and Omax? We have so many forwards now, and I'm pumped for it, but I also really like both of them and don't want to see them leave.

  11. Completely brokenhearted! I will miss Ja Morant so badly that I will be following the Portland Trailblazers very disappointed in management and the way they have treated their players look at Brandon Clark?? No support for these guys whatsoever! Can you imagine what it’s like for them to be injured and not be able to play the game they love I tell people walk a mile in their shoes. I think Memphis is making a huge mistake getting rid of Ja Morant. And management has to take the blame for a lot of this.

  12. The whole thing about this whole situation we're giving Carlos boozer the face of the franchise he hasn't played a game yet in the NBA it's too early to be calling a rookie the face of the franchise bro let's face it Memphis dropped the ball they fired Coach Jenkins they brought in new coach John Moran is going to go to Portland it is going to be the next version of Zach Randolph but in reverse Memphis is going to look back and understand that made the worstest trade they ever could make but that's what this new leadership group did they dismantle a team that the other administration brought in and now we're going to see the new look grizzlies suffer we're probably going to be at the bottom of the damn league for a while 1 don't listen to these people they're trying to dress up as trading without Superstar for a bag of chips

  13. Can’t lie I’m glad he’s gone and I absolutely love Ja. You have to want to win with this city. For this city. That was never Ja. The public turned on him and he almost immediately quit on Memphis as if Memphis fans ever turned on him. WE NEVER DID 💯 Grant is a real pro and not a headache. He impacts winning and he’s what we need at the position. Ja and his team used to look down on and talk down on Memphis. That never wins here. The player has to WANT to win HERE.

  14. Portland is a good place for Ja to turn his carreer around. The Blazers give him a second change so he needs to take advantage of that. Be around those legends such as Dame and Jru will be great for Ja to learn from them. On the court and off the court. Both Dame and Jru are hreat mentors and HOF.

  15. If y’all hate players that rebound then you’ll love Grant! Unless the ball happens to come right to him he’s not getting that rebound.
