The Mavs Haven’t Missed on ANYTHING Big in NBA Free Agency Yet | Dallas Mavericks Rumors

The Dallas Mavericks have been quiet in NBA free agency while teams like the Los Angeles Lakers are making massive moves — but is Dallas actually winning the offseason by staying patient? With Marcus Sasser reportedly headed to the Mavs, Sergio De Larrea coming over for summer league, and Kyrie Irving’s roster spot still needing reinforcement, Cooper Flagg’s supporting cast is very much a work in progress.

Nick Angstadt and Isaac Harris break down every major free agency move so far, discussing why Dallas passed on Quentin Grimes, Colin Sexton, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Walker Kessler — and why that patience could pay off. The guys debate whether the Los Angeles Lakers’ flurry of deals — trading multiple unprotected first-round picks for Walker Kessler and signing Quentin Grimes to a four-year, $60 million deal — actually makes them better around Luka Doncic heading into next season. The episode also covers the latest on Vsevolod Ishchenko and Ryan Nembhard heading to summer league alongside Sergio De Larrea, and where the Mavs’ mid-level exception could still be spent.

  1. Let’s go get Simmons ppl forget as bad as our record was last year we were in a lot of those games you get kyri back and morez and bring in Simmons with sasser I think we can be competitive

  2. This is just my opinion, but I've never thought of Dallas as a free agency team. The only big free agent I can remember was the sign and trade for Klay. Grant it, I'm a younger fan that didn't really get into the Mavs until 2018 in high school.

  3. Not making moves after the atrocious season last season, kyrie coming off a torn ACL injury at 34yrs old, you need a LEGIT 2nd scorer, and a reliable healthy defensive big. Lively and gafford both injury proned. You HAVE to do SOMETHING. Good luck! 🙂

  4. I'm guessing we roll into the season and see how it plays out unless a trade for a guard pops up that doesn't cost something crazy. Probably wanna see if Larry looks ready to be a backup pg in summer league. Might be planning on seeing where we're at when the trade deadline rolls around. Might be buyers or sellers at that point

  5. The Lakers are much better than Dallas top to bottom. People forget Reeves and Luka without LeBron were on a 63-win pace. When LeBron came back, that fell to 46-wins. Dallas should worry more about their team than the Lakers. Luka made Ayton and Hayes both top 10 in field goal percentage in the league. Kessler is going to become an All-Star with Luka. Right now, the Lakers 4 centers are better than anything Dallas can put on the court. Then, they added Grimes who can drop 40 and Sexton who can score. Of course, there is Luka and Reaves. Both top 10 scorers in the league. Lakers are way ahead of Dallas.

  6. I think we Mavs fans need to keep realigning to the timeline here. The first step isn’t a lottery team to 2nd round of the playoffs. This is multi-year and patience will win the day. We can’t fix everything in one off season. The strategy for now is don’t make stupid mistakes that reduce flexibility, and opportunistically add assets when opportunities open up. Just having Kyrie back will drastically make the team more compelling.

  7. This whole sasser thing is really starting to bug me if we’re gonna trade for him might as well keep b will it makes no sense he isn’t ever going to be a real player in the nba sasser got the remaining two years before he playing overseas
