Boston Celtics ‘done with Jaylen Brown’ says Chris Mannix after seeing trade package | NBA on NBC
https://www.youtube.com/@NBAonNBC
There was no "toxic relationship." It was a strict contract dump. All about the money. Look to Chisolm.
welcome to the Mike Gansey, Jameer Nelson & Bob Myers era😂
This is a better pick for the 76ers but this may work for the Celtics as well. Let’s wait and see. I hear you though Chris
Brad Stevens ——> Firing Squad (no blindfold, he doesn't deserve one)
There not keeping Paul George they will unload him . There is a bigger plan i promise you.
Chris, love your work
But I don't see that same giggling energy I saw when u were commenting on what lakers had to give up for Kessler
Exec of the year, lol…I think not
Celtics will add Bronnie James and be ok.
I would have rather got Angel Reese back than Paul George. Now I know how it feels to be a Sacramento fan😢
This only makes sense if Brad has something cooking with the Pelicans that sends PG out immediately and Murphy comes in. 1)None of these picks will help the team win a championship in the next 4-5 years. 2)The roster is now worse than it was before the trade. 3)They gained no meaningful cap space. 4)The Celtics are now more injury prone than before the trade. 5)You just handed one of your main rivals a free upgrade and got them out of the worst contract on their roster. 6)The significant age gap. 7) Improving the roster after this trade will be nearly impossible because they locked themselves UNDER the 1st apron earlier today.
I'd love to hear a single reasonable thought on one single benefit from this trade for the Celtics.
The worst trade in sports history. Flat out the worst trade.
Cmon Mannix. The Mavs got cooper flag in that deal. This deal is the worst deal ever.
What. The. Fuck.
All that laughing and arm chair quarterbacking Mannix was doing earlier about Laker moves ….. who's laughing now Celtic homer?!? Lol
No reason to tune in next season. Private equity truly is the gift that keeps on taking.
So now the C's are gonna get the #2 pick in the 2027 Draft? 🤣
simple reasons
1.they really wanted to trade brown
2.that is the best available deal
Not only does Philly get JB, they get outta PG's contact!
i would say the league office needs to make rules to prevent salary dump anti-competition behavior, but then i remembered that there is no greedier, less ethical sports organization in the world than the nba (besides fifa). adam silver actively plots to make the league worse to line billionaire pockets and insert gambling into every aspect of the game we love. i just see this illogical, anti-basketball move to be on a continuum with the disgusting greed that's overtaken the sport. i don't believe in the toxic relationship story because of how low their standards were to make this trade. it's not a bad trade, it's a worst team in the league type trade. it's a bradley beal to the suns type trade.
remember when chris paul to the lakers was vetoed for hurting competition? now teams can trade their superstar players and finals mvps after great seasons for washed, injured has-beens on albatross contracts for no reason but to cut off one year of payment. these kinds of trade should straight up not be allowed to happen.
As a 76ers fan, I’m in disbelief. I’m also ecstatic 🤩.
We couldn’t even get their 3rd best player back?? Unless they make another move that’s incredible, this is up there with the Luka deal! I’m actually livid right now. Karma comes for everyone. Not just team you root against that do stupid things. You do a trade this stupid, you deserve what you get.
“ If “ Chris “ Fucking MANNIX ” is saying this, you Celtics fans, deep down and Honestly, certainly know “ you’re Fucked! “ Unless of course you like/enjoy the lottery.
If JB is so good, why didn't anyone beat this offer?
There's 30 teams in the league and this is the best the C's could get.
Chisholm has betrayed his charge to defend the Celtic tradition. SELL THE TEAM NOW!!!!!! Absolutely unforgivable.
Yeah, this is pretty pathetic, hahahaha
Can't wait till this 4-5 playoff matchup happens….I think JB will be pumped for that!
Give it a few days and Boston sports media will spew some slanderous stories about Jalen Brown fed to them by the Celtics.
The thing is, Brown also stays healthy and consistent.
It's not whether you want to get rid of Brown, it's that you should try to get as much as possible for him. This is from ESPN Zak Kram:
"Compared with raw box score stats, more advanced metrics are indeed skeptical of Brown. This is in part due to his lackluster on/off numbers: Boston has been better with Brown off the court for most of the seasons in his career, including the past four, per Cleaning the Glass.
As a No. 1 scoring option, Brown put up excellent numbers last season, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. But he doesn't match that elite production with elite efficiency.
Brown's 57% career true shooting is exactly league average over the course of his career, per Basketball Reference. Even looking at only the past four seasons, which include both of his All-NBA campaigns, his true shooting ranks 24th out of the 30 highest-usage players in the league. The players closest to him are De'Aaron Fox, Trae Young and Brandon Ingram, none of whom profiles as a franchise-changing superstar, and all of whom were dealt for somewhat underwhelming returns over the past 18 months.
Nor is Brown the most fluid passer, with just 2.9 assists per game compared with 2.3 turnovers over the course of his career. As his playmaking responsibilities have risen in recent seasons, so have his giveaways: Over the past four seasons, 85 players have averaged at least four assists per game, and Brown ranks 84th among that group in assist-to-turnover ratio. (The only player below him, incidentally, is his new teammate, Joel Embiid.)"
So there you go, there's your superstar who can't dribble under pressure. Next.
Follow the money
This trade made our biggest rivals better than the Celtics. Should've kept him longer and waited for a better deal.
As a Bostonian and life long Celtics fan….we NEED an explanation from Brad. Like, right now. If not, we riot. This is insanely bad.
lol sooo they wouldn't include hugo gonzales for giannis but they would do this ….. LOL awful
This will be regarded, in hindsight, as a brilliant move. Jalen was a cancer. And all the green goo freaks hating on this trade are the same dummies that said trading Marcus Smart was a disastrous move. Admit it. GreenTeamers® always over-rate their players.
I thought the Mavericks trade was awful…but this one takes the cake. Is Boston's GM trying to get fired?
Make Brad coach this team next year. It's what he deserves.
Pistons were interested in Brown…you could have gotten a lot more from them than this garbage package 76ers gave you. Celtic's GM needs to be drug tested….guessing he took some bad acid.
