The OKC Thunder have been mostly quiet during the busy NBA offseason but that doesn’t mean they didn’t strengthen their already championship-caliber roster. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the rest of the Thunder core have still been given reinforcements by Sam Presti. After selecting Aday Mara and Bennett Stirtz in the first round of the draft, OKC drafted another potential hidden gem in Kentucky wing Otega Oweh. He now joins the likes of Lu Dort, Aargin Wiggins, Jaylin Williams, and most recently Ajay Mitchell as second round steals for the Thunder. OKC already traded players like Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe earlier this offseason and they also signed Isaiah Hartenstein to a new long-term extension. There is the question of the rookie extension for Cason Wallace and the future of Lu Dort, but the Thunder have now added some depth pieces to the team for the long haul, with Otega Oweh possibly the most intriguing draft find that OKCs had in recent years. We will see him play with the OKC Thunder in the NBA summer league.

The NBA has been shocked by big moves so far in the offseason such as the Jaylen Brown trade to the 76ers, the Giannis trade to Miami, LeBron James leaving the Lakers, Kawhi Leonard going back to Toronto, LaMelo Ball to the Timberwolves, and Ja Morant to Portland. However, its still gonna be hard to top how the OKC Thunder projects to make a run for the NBA championship again next season. The question is, are the Thunders moves enough to finally allow them to move past Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs or Jalen Brunson and the Knicks?

  1. Kentucky guards at this point are guys that always play above their draft pick. Booker, Herro, SGA, Quickley, Maxey. It's like a meme at this point that Kentucky produce guards that fall in the draft. So the fact that Oweh (a guard) was the leading scorer/best defender/most clutch player at Kentucky and fell that far is a joke. It's practically a guarantee that he vastly improves his draft stock.

  2. I got excited at headline. Dorts decline last yr was do to Lu intentionally losing muscle mass. I thought Presti is forcing Lu to use steroids & gain his muscle mass back. Ohh well.

  3. Got me excited to see what he can do! In videos like this, I'd love to hear some things we could look out for in his rookie year Should we watch to see whether he's getting pushed around/lacking strength? Is his ability to play in the nba all about whether he shoots it from 3? Or are we just watching to see if he can make things tough for good nba ballhandlers as a rookie?
