16. The Lakers have significantly upgraded their bench from a defensive standpoint. Rebounding should also improve with Kessler, Looney and Manu. I would still like to see some speed and a bit better D in our starting lineup.

23. JJ successfully managed the highs and lows of Ayton's emotions. Why wouldnt he be able to do the same for Kuminga? The upside if he hits makes this team so much better. He is only 23, and it makes more sense to think he is more likely to have a break out season as he gets closer to 25 than to 20.

Here is a fact – you all know it – the Lakers won't be achieving anything significant this year or over the next 5 years with the current team and leadership. Speaking of "lack of awareness"… I believe this faction of ESPN (LA) has a lack of awareness, including Brian…and I am not just talking sports.

33. You are totally wrong about Kuminga. Can you really say Steve Kerr ever gave him an honest opportunity? NO!! When Curry was hurt Kuminga was the best player against the Timberwolves and that includes Butler, he was definitely better than Butler who they are paying $56 million as year. With the Hawks, if my memory doesn't deceive me, the Hawks were the only team to beat the Knicks twice in the playoffs. And Kuminga was a large part of the reason they beat the Knicks. Also his being benched for much of the last couple games against the Knicks was a large part of why the Hawks lost. The Hawks would still like to keep Kuminga but at a cheaper price. So let's get it right.

34. Kuminga just needs the right fit, right locker room environment, right veteran leadership around him. Dude had 19, 21 point games in the playoffs against the Knicks coming off the bench. Lakers management see his value.

40. Kuminga would've been a perfect backcourt mate when Reaves was still their developing PG. They completely dumped that by acquiring Doncic, even though he's better-suited for SF with LeBron gone. I don't see any point to adding Kuminga as a "wing" when they already have a handful of candidates roughly his size. Had they acquired him 2 years ago, they'd probably still have money left for Hachimura.

45. Ayton had a solid season and was a major contributor to the team's success. Smart was also acquired in July and had a good season. Players are available in July because of the new CBA
