I'm a white guy and this type of talk doesn't offend me, but the 3 white amigos probably think otherwise. To me, it came across more of a comedy skit and got me genuinely laughing. I can say with absolute certainty that if someone made the same claim about Black people regardless of what sport or discipline is being discussed, you would be the first person to claim that it’s a racist statement. I still respect you and bc I believe in your heart you didn’t mean what you said to come across as racist. BUT! You need to consider your previous statements made when discussing racial politics. You can say that this is in no way a political discussion, but you should be open minded to the idea that it wouldn’t be culturally appropriate for anyone to say that about any race bc the facts are you don’t know what the future holds for the sport. Now that it’s a league where skill and availability are valued over natural born “talent”.
If I were to say any of the over ten different examples you called out and say that any platform will suffer bc of having too many black people, that would be racist bc when you specifically connect racial appearance to success or failure, that’s a fundamental racist statement. And just bc you’re a sports reporter and your black doesn’t provide the liberties of making such a claim without an educated response.
