Following the blockbuster Jaylen Brown trade, Rachel Nichols sets the record straight on the massive media rumor mill, drawing on over a decade of firsthand experience covering both superstars in Boston to dismantle the manufactured narratives of a “toxic” relationship.
first
Optionality is BS. They were going to give Giannis $70/mill a year. PG gets paid same as JB.
Imagine sitting across from Chris Mannix and being like "WHERE ARE ALL THESE FAKE RUMORS COMING FROM???"
Sports Illustrated is shameless.
It’s pretty simple, JB isn’t worth the squeeze.
Did they not want to get it done before he became extension eligible? An additional 2 years 140 million extension or extension demand for Celtics or whoever trades for him could have decreased his value even more than Brad said it already was.
Over under in Tatum, George and Robinson playing 40 regular season games together next year 😮😮😮😅😅😅
Athletes especially black ones aren't allowed to be highly educated. If you don't think think rich white still don't want yes mam athletes you are lying to yourself. If we forget race, nothing threatens one smart person more than another smart person 😮😮😅😅
Just like in investing, scared money always loses
Childrens book very sweet, that tells u, whos side she is on lol the tone is everything
The media is always trying to make team mates best friends, they're co-workers that work good together like we all have in regular life. Tatum is from ST. Louis & Jalen Brown is from Georgia. I believe their best friends are the people they grew up with in their home towns…
"I'm being disrespected!" – $300mil & a 34% usage says otherwise
Tatum did not order the trade, but he could have stoped the trade if he truly wanted Brown still on the team.
Slide through the comments (these are the ppl who are allowed to vote)!
Does anybody remember the Celtics got rid of Holiday, Horford, Porzingis, Anfrernee Simons, and Vucevic. It was the money and only the money.
Rachel is just about the most fair and honest sports journalist that I can think of. No sensationalizing, no bs. Wish we heard from her more often.
Rachel one of the best grounded least reactionary basketball media members.
Brown >>>>> Tatum. Brown is a leader. Tatum is like Durant
Just be honest please smh
Brad Stevens. Was shook. Brad Stevens? Really?
Brown was up for an extension at the end of July that the Celtics clearly weren't going to exercise. If you are of the belief that the Celtics were scared of how the relationship with Brown was going to continue to deteriorate then this would have been a primary driving factor in getting this done soon.
8:37 words in Jaylen Brown’s mouth… He never said because Jason Tatum is not here. That’s what the media said. He clearly thought it was his favorite year. I’m not sure why this is still even a discussion.
Jimmy G hit them G strings foshur
becasue of the backlash i'm sure JB prob regretted saying that in it's context. not sure he clarified it to go over better but i'm sure he wasn't saying his fav year because JT was hurt. people are putting it that way. maybe i'm wrong.
Chris Mannix lowkey trying to sell Tatum and Jaylen have different personalities and that they may not be cool with each other.
Mannix, you're obviously not a rocket scientist and we get it right? Jaylen going for what he went for is the market speaking for itself! Nobody cares how much you loved the Corvette you're selling. When you start showing it and ten ppl say a price that's similar, that's all you're getting. Delusional ppl are the only ones who don't understand this concept.
Fake drama is spot on
It's disappointing that even Rachel Nichols misinterprets Jaylen Brown's "my favorite season" comments. It was not about his own stats, or a dig at Jayson Tatum. It was a season where more than half the players had fewer career minutes than VJ Edgecombe, and the team still got 56 wins. Tatum's rehab efforts were part of the team's motivation. Brown did not throw away the camaraderie, he was emphasizing that, with Horford, Holiday, and KP gone, the young guys pulled together… CAMARADERIE.
Everyone talks about having 70% of the salary cap in two players. That is truly deceptive, because the only salary limit which matters is the first apron. Next season, Brown and Tatum will make about 56% of the first apron level. They obviously had the salary room to get Robinson and Connolly, since PG13 has the same salary as Brown next season.
The mistake everyone is making is saying that only "a generational talent" is worth $70M. The Celtics don't have one, and probably won't in the foreseeable future. They Jays weren't even their own draft pics. So, without a LeBron, Steph, KD, Giannis, or Jokic, it's important to have two "decade talents". The Celtics had that, and now they don't.
3:30. I've never heard one person say that Tatum had anything to do with this
Mannix has never been the smartest guy in the room,
Even when it's just him and Rachel.
