Acuff will settle and when he actually has teammates who can capitalize on his assist attempts, the world will settle down. I do agree that he was complacent when he didn't have the ball and he better work on that.
Kid is 19 years old this is crazy talk
This is all about the ridiculous pressure being put on a 19 year old. You guys have been as responsible as anyone for piling on this pressure. "The one thing we're not going to do is use any excuses…" WTF!?!?!? This kid is 19 years old, and that's not an "excuse"? Of course it is an excuse. You guys have been particularly bad about encouraging Darius to assume "full accountability" for his subpar performances, as if this entire "savior" mantle wouldn't mess with the natural development of any young player. Please, just stop. Jalen Brunson was just starting his sophomore year at Villanova at age 19, and as a 22 year-old rookie, Brunson averaged a mere 9.3 pts and 3.2 assists per game. Fast forward 7 years, and Brunson is now the grittiest player on the planet. Stop hyping Darius! Let him be 19 yrs old, let him be a rookie, let him improve slowly, build his craft slowly. Jeeze.
Opposing teams are putting lengthy athletic defenders against Acuff. He needs some time to adjust.
My only worry was the play where he turned the ball over and then gave up on the play… Turned out they missed the layup and if he would have run back, he would have gotten the rebound. Bad shooting nights happen, but giving up can't happen.
Nah he's OK. Give it time.
He will be fine
