  1. Quaintance's surgery, a native meniscal repair, if successful, may last up to 10 years. When that day comes and no new technology emerges, there is a procedure that Lonzo Ball had that could be another surgical solution. Lonzo is the only NBA player to ever have had it and it appears to be working fine after 2 years. It is a human cadaver meniscal transplant. Rehab is a grueling, 9-12 months and requires initial weeks to months to find a donor. Jayden may have already been put on the waiting list, just in case.

  2. I don’t understand. You draft a guy with those injuries and still drafted him after knowing he’s out for a year. WTF did the Spurs expect? He’s a bust, calling it right now. 3-5 years and he’s out of the NBA.

  3. I don't think the plan was for him to get ACL surgery two years ago,…
and then play at Kentucky last year on a damaged knee (look horrible)…
and then stall/pray until he's drafted–
and then ultimately get surgery again on his knee, 2 weeks ago.
I am not an Orthopedic Surgeon, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the original plan.

  4. I think SA is being a little coy about what is really going on with JQ. The standard procedure for a meniscus tear, at least when I had my two tears (at separate times), is to trim off the meniscus and send you off on your way. That is a arthroscopic procedure which is typically not called surgery. The problem with a trim is that the meniscus is an important part of the cushioning of impact on the knees from things like running and jumping. I seriously doubt JQ would ever be able to handle an 82 NBA schedule with a trim. The cushioning simply would not be there.

There are other therapies that have been in the works and are now appearing. One of them is a meniscus replacement. That could, at least in theory, provide the same level of cushioning as his original equipment. A distant relative of mine had that. At the time, it was only available for younger people and the recovery time was one year. That was 4-5 years ago and at the time, that was cutting edge. My bet is that JQ had that.

My best guess is that he is out for at least 6 months, but everything will depend on how rehab goes. That fits much better into the time line than a trim of a tear which would not keep him out nearly this long.

  5. We’re looking for explanations, even though there really aren’t any. This is an anomaly—the kind that happens very rarely. The only explanation we can come up with is fatigue, above all, and perhaps a lack of focus among the older players, who aren’t always consistent. They’ve had excellent games, followed by not-so-good ones—like scoring fewer than 10 points in the finals. This is more the coach’s responsibility. You can’t lead by 29 points, play that well, and lose by one point on the final possession—especially when you have the ball with 12 seconds left, you’re leading, albeit by a narrow margin, and you’re on the opponent’s home court. Those Spurs were very strong this year; the only team on the same level was OKC.

  6. He SHOULD take a shot at the Spurs, tbh…I would…he did his job as the defensive guru…the Knicks highest scoring game was 111, and they lost…aside from that they scores between 94 and 107…if you told me that before the finals, I'd think we would blow them out every game…

Our offensive schemes were bad the entire season and I called it out…but its easy to ignore the CLEAR issues when you're blowing bad teams out in the regular season…every series of the post season we won by defense because our offense was abysmal

    1. Doesn't know how to utilize wemby and get him the ball in motion around the basket, where he is unstoppable

    2. Lowering the impact of Fox and Castle by playing both out of position…you should NEVER have a non-pg play pg…you cant LEARN the PG position in the nba…the best you will ever be is a capable secondary ballhandler…Fox also has a great mid-range coming off the pick, so its harder to guard because of the options the offense would have…with Castle off the pick, you just sit in the paint and dare him to shoot…he is better served playing his natural position where he can attack closeout, or cut to the basket like he has been doing his entire life

  7. Quaintance is a future player project. He will probably get some minutes in the spring to begin adjusting to the NBA. But I don't expect much in the playoffs. Competing for titles I'd rather lean on our guys with experience.

  8. Crazy you guys didn’t mention our best performing rookie Maliq Brown. Anytime the ball was near him he was getting his hands on it. On top of his impressive “stocks” numbers the summer league stat keepers missed 1-2 stocks every game. If you go back and watch the game against Milwaukee they gave him 2 blocks and 4 steals. It was actually 3 blocks and 6 steals. Oh, and 7 offensive rebounds to boot. This dude could play next to Wemby now.
