11. I think that Keldon is gonna show out this year after the rough playoff run. I also believe that we should get rid of McLaughlin, as Gillespie (as well as DJG) can take that bench role. Harrison can be let go too after his rough 2nd half of the year, especially since we have such good replacements like Carter and now Tobias. Kornet can also go as he really doesn't look for his shot in games, killing the offense, this is where Jayden Quaintance can get his minutes from. With all of those cuts I think that the spurs can keep Keldon, especially if he fixes his image this Regular Season and Post Season

20. Castle can obviously play small forward decently well, but if we start all 3 of our best guards we don't have a good PG leading the second unit – which was a huge strength for us last season. I just don't see the upside, outside of maybe going small ball to close out games (which might not even be good against most opponents).

21. We can't extend KJ without paying him more than he is currently making (IIRC) so we definitely shouldn't. I love KJ's energy, but there is no way that we'll want to pay him 19 or 20 mil per year for the forseeable future.

23. Next season (2027/2028) after this new one, the Spurs will pay 201M$ on 11 active contracts (Fox, Wemby, Vassell, Harris, Champagnie, Castle, Harper, Kornet, Bryant, Quaintance, Reed). The luxury tax should be around 210M$ and the first apron around 220M$. At this stage, even with minimum veteran contracts, the Spurs won't manage to complete the roster without becoming a luxury tax franchise.
    I am pretty sure that the Spurs are not ready to become an apron franchise (not before paying Castle and Harper, and certainly not before trading Fox !!!).
    Just imagine if the Hawks are not making the playoff (which is very plausible in the current eastern conference) and the Spurs is getting the First pick in the draft 2027; the new rookie would add 15M$ to this 201M$ !!!

    This is then completely impossible for the Spurs to extend Keldon Johnson. His future in SA should be limited to one year at best.
    The Spurs could be wise to maintain his minutes high in 2026 in order for him to continue to have good stats in order to trade him at his best value in february. He could perhaps bring one or two second round picks.
