I have a question. Sound off. Would Asa Newell be worth our top 17-30 protected pick from the Spurs this next draft? He’s fallen out of some favor with Atlanta and only one year in. We could use our trade exception and bring him in for less than the 9 million we have left under the second apron. He’s 6’9” barefoot and seems like he is a large wing. We would still have 2 first round picks much like this draft.
It's very annoying hearing these podcasters say thunder didn't get better because we traded Dort. Did ya'll not watch his games the entire season? Because if ya'll did, you wouldn't say that.
All this living in the past is crazy. Yes dort helped us win the 2025 chip but basketball is a "what have you done for me lately" game. We're playing to win the 2027 chip. Dort went from averaging 8 pts then plummmented to aboyt 5.5 pts in the post season. He also went from 34% from the arc to 30%. Like what are we ralking about here? He's getting older and he's not going to get better as he ages.
But it's time for Caso and Ajay to shine.
OKC wishes Dort the best and we will always love him.

Love Dort, and I'd bet he has a big rebound year and gets a good contract somewhere. This trade had to happen though.
OKC is now considerably better than the team that just won a championship. Mitchell is a MASSIVE upgrade to the starting lineup replacing Dort and obviously mcCain is an incredible talent and will be getting a lot of the minutes guys like Dort, joe and Wiggins were getting. he's significantly better than all three. Also keep in mind Topic will start playing at some point and he also is incredibly talented. Anybody who thinks this team isn't significantly better than that championship team knows NOTHING about the nba.
The question is HOW MUCH luxury tax is reasonable? If Cason wants 4yrs 130mil & next yr Ajay wants 4yrs 160mil & JMac wants 4yrs 120mil & won't budge, should ownership shell out a combined billion dollars w/ luxury tax penalties?
