SEASON KEY – How Utah Jazz can CREATE Jaren Jackson Jr. the efficient offensive player

The Utah Jazz acquired Jaren Jackson Jr. at the trade deadline in February and he only played 3 games for the Utah Jazz. David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA Insider presents what a strangely inconsistent offensive player Jaren Jackson Jr is. Locke delves into the difference in his good seasons and his bad offensive season looking at play types, how he was used, who he played with and what are the keys for him to have a good offensive season.

Locke looks to see if the Utah Jazz coaching staff should use him as a pick and roll big or a cutter or a spot up shooter or an isolation player or what the Grizzlies did to get the best out of Jaren Jackson Jr. This is the first in a weekly series on the key players for the Utah Jazz this season. They will look at Keyonte George, Jusuf Nurkic and Ace Bailey in the next three shows.

Utah Jazz’s season hinges on Jaren Jackson Jr.’s offensive consistency—can Will Hardy unlock his full potential? Despite being a defensive anchor, Jackson swings wildly between All-Star level and subpar on offense, leaving a major question mark for the Jazz’s attack.

David Locke breaks down Jackson’s erratic scoring metrics, exploring his efficiency at the rim, fluctuating 3-point percentages, and role as a non-pick-and-roll big. The episode investigates why offensive rebounds and cuts have dropped, the impact of supporting cast changes like Ja Morant and Steven Adams, and why three-point shooting seems to dictate Jackson’s success. With strategic adjustments needed, can Jackson’s mix of inside and outside play give Utah the edge in the West?

  1. The triple J trade reminded me a lot of John Collins trade we get a good over paid player with flaws on the cheap. Only difference triple J is a better defender and a very good clutch shooter at the end of the game. pairing him with Lauri is also a bad fit. Were we really going to have Lauri guard wings? We lose Kessler makes trade worse bc triple J doesnt rebound. now what? Only thing that makes sense now is to trade Lauri for a center like Sabonis. Time to earn your money Ainge bc triple J wont play center bc he is allergic to rebounding. I would have never did triple J trade and let Kessler go and waited for the next star to be available whoever that might be.
