I love the Nuggets, but this is so much drama to keep a team together that wasn't remotely close to a title last year. They are rubbing up against the 2nd apron just to be worse than last year because they will lose at least one key player to get under that 2nd apron.
A second-apron roster can still win if it is already elite, deep, and healthy. But once age, injury, or decline hits, the front office is trapped inside the roster it built.
No cavalry is coming. Just minimum contracts, salary dumps, and executives pretending “internal development” was the plan all along.
The Nuggets are f*d. Their squad is Jokic and a bunch of overpaid mids he carries because of his brilliance.
