Ranking All 30 NBA Teams: Spurs, Thunder, Knicks, 76ers TOP CONTENDERS + who else has a title shot

Jason does his first NBA contender rankings of this season after the big free agency and trade moves have finally happened thanks to LeBron James making his decision. He breaks down why the San Antonio Spurs, OKC Thunder, New York Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers are the best four teams, plus where Giannis Antetoknoumpo and the Miami Heat, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers all fit into the equation, along with all 30 NBA teams.

  1. If wolves are healthy they deserve to be way higher. Talent wise they’re up there with the best. I think melo and ant work perfectly together. Melo is pass first, he usually doesn’t get aggressive until the team needs him too. With Ant he was clearly uncomfortable being the ball handler and honestly it seemed to hold him back. Another huge factor is ant and melo would be doubled team most the time and now that’s just not an option anymore. They’re both gonna be unlocked. All hinges on health

  2. The disrespect to the Knicks is getting out of hand. One of the highest win margins, while also having the highest point differentials ever. To go with a 16-3 in the playoffs. Now, Jason is claiming they're not a top tier team is comical.😅

  3. It’s laughable the lakers and nuggets are this high. Classic timpf bias. Imagine the wolves beating the nuggets with just Jaden and Rudy and being three spots behind after adding lamelo for the ghost of Randle and a good bench player in naz. The lakers stuff is just predictable so I won’t waste my breath.

  4. How is this lakers team beating the wolves in the playoffs? You’re way overrating the idea that Randle and Reid were the athleticism you liked about the wolves. It’s laughable you think that those two guys were the defensive linchpins when the numbers don’t say that, the eye test didn’t say that, and the aren’t over sized four like kat was. It’s some of you’re worst bball analysis cause there no logic to it outside of the narrative you told yourself.

  5. 27:00 did you watch that series? Was it naz and Julius that took over? Was it them who Jokic and Murray were asked about postgame. This is delusional levels of stupid and the wolves will ONCE AGAIN PROVE YOU AN IDIOT

  6. I don’t understand how you have Charlotte or even Utah above Dallas our best player is better than theirs, with similar level if not better supporting cast. Every defensive stat screams coop top 5 defender last year, Mavs had top 10 defense until January and 2nd most clutch games in nba. Think we are being a bit underrated. Per usual

  7. Main concerns for the Knicks will be whether:
    a) Will Shamet, Alvarado, Deuce, and Diawara continue their bench effectiveness?
    b) Will Hart and Drummond contribute enough to compensate for the loss of Mitchell Robinson?
    c) Can Mikal and Towns play more consistently to avoid relying on Brunson so much?
If yes to all three, then Knicks repeat no matter what.

  8. Mailbag: Hi jason! In your assessment of the knicks you noted the the floor for the knicks was generally higher then any other team. Im wondering if that is the case why are they ranked 3rd and only in the 2nd tier? Considering weve now also seen their "ceiling" being 16-3, highest point diff ever, 9 straight road games won, 13 in a row, highest plus minus ever by KAT and so many other record breaking stats. Also they won the chip. I feel any other team in the past 5 years would just be number 1 no questions.

  9. There is no way Lakers are #6..they are 12-8..LukFt Whiner is not your winner. Just because some solid moves doesn't mean contender man.I Know you love the Lakers but COME ON MANG! They got many wins because of their FTS. In the playoffs LBJ carried without them Fts and he is not in LA anymore.

  10. Don’t mind the Knicks at 3, but they are undoubtedly in the same tier as San Antonio and OKC. Brunson has proven he’s able to beat a top tier superstar in Wemby at the biggest moments, so not checking that box for the Knicks doesn’t make much sense.

  11. Any disgruntled dubs fans here? We run into alot of those 7-13 teams in the playoffs we win that series. A healthy steph dray jimmy KP isnt a bottom tier team

  12. Mailbag: you mentioned that you think it's justified for OKC to run it back this year, but that if they lose to SAS again this year in the playoffs they should make drastic changes. We don't know the schedule yet so this is a hypothetical, but if they were to play & lose to SAS 2 or 3 times before the trade deadline do you think they should hold fast til the playoffs or abandon ship and try to make a drastic change midseason?

  13. Lakers a 6 but Cavs at 13 and for the pacers u said “wanna see what this looks like”

So yk what the Cavs look like you have no idea what the Lakers look like yet their in a different tier ?

  14. HAHAHAHAH how tf are the lakers above Minnesota 😂 they have BY FAR the better backcourt lmao and actually have the post season success to prove it.

  15. Brother The thunder would’ve beat the Spurs if they were completely healthy and the Spurs just got gentleman’s swept by the Knicks. I don’t see how they are the best team in the NBA. Mind you, the Knicks could’ve played a lot better than they did in those finals.

  16. I'd be surprised if the Bucks win less than 30 games. They pretty much have the heat core minus bam + better shot creating out of their guards. People forget they were coached by Doc Rivers last year and Giannis only played 36 games and KPJ only played 38.

    Rollins, Herro, Jaquez, Ware, Turner
    Burries, KPJ, Trent, Kuzma, Sims

Isn't a horrible 10 man rotation. Looks like a play-in team to me, especially with the coaching upgrade. If Rollins improves and Burries carries over his summer success they could be scrappy.

They have legit NBA players, unlike Brooklyn, Chicago, New Orleans, etc.

  17. The Nuggets are the only team in the league in the second tier, which is at 68 million right now. The Watson contract would take that up to something like 132 million. If you follow KSE and it's history you know they didn't get to where they are by paying in on an excess of taxes. Peyton Waton won't be on the Nuggets roster next year, he will be traded.

  18. To all the Knicks fans complaining: Jason predicted Knicks to win over Spurs even before the playoffs started. The tier is a prediction not a reflection. Just check the current betting odds and you would see how the market feels about Spurs/Thunders/Knicks. At the end of the day, whether a team ranks 1st or 30th, the only thing matters is who wins the trophy. It's not like this tier would affect the result in any way, and it's always sweeter to beat expectations than to fail it.

  19. There is no way you called Embiid a big game player. I grimace through your homer Lakers / Leborn takes but thats fine everyone can have their favorite team / . But wooow. We have so much sample that he is the opposite. But lets let a game 7 in the first round with Tatum off the floor, against Brown and White and a bunch of whatever role players in their first actual playoff series, no actual center to guard him, sway your opinion on Embiid's ability to play in big games. He doesn't know what the conference finals feels like, which is the minimum for 'big games' imo.

I'm not saying he couldn't tap into something and shock us all, but it would be a shock.
