What should be the Mavs' biggest priority?
I think they need a point of attack defender
I love Apple Music
Dallas giant upgrade inbound.
My wife and I lost our son Levi at birth April 19, 2013. We knew he was sick with trisomy 13 early in the pregnancy. The words āincompatible with lifeā from the doctor were the most cruel words we ever heard. We begged God for healing and felt cold silence. I picked out my sonās grave before I even saw his face. I went shopping for clothes to bury him in while watching happy parents, oblivious to my pain, shop for clothes to take their children home in. I wept bitterly in the middle of the store. I saw news stories of parents literally throwing their child in a dumpster because they were unwanted. I was enraged that they had a healthy child and we did not. Anyone who complained about anything was met with hateful responses because their pain was nothing compared to mine.
We had roughly 2 hours with him in the recovery room to make a lifetime of memories before Levi left us for heaven. Then the drive home empty handed. Then the funeral. What does a mother do when her body is ready to take care of a baby but the baby isnāt there?
The depths of our despair cannot be described in words. Deep depression. Immobile in bed. Endless tears. Guilt, wondering if this was punishment over my sin. Even anger at God. Church friends let us down because they couldnāt handle our grief. Well intentioned people said the wrong things and we got offended. It was a losing battle for anyone who tried to love us well. We were unbearable to be around. We walked away from church. The thought that our misery would one day be our ministry was appalling. Life was awful. We knew we needed God. We loved God. But we were broken. And frankly didnāt trust Jesus like we should have. Knowing God is good and feeling like God is good are two different things. āGod Iām angry at Youā with my fist raised and then falling on my face begging for mercy became my only prayer.
Why does God allow suffering? There are some real atrocities in the world. You can name off all the cliche Christian responses you want. We live in a fallen world, man has free will and that leads to sin and suffering, we cannot understand the full plan of God, God allows some suffering to happen so that others may be saved, God will make all things right in eternity, and so on⦠They are not wrong responses to suffering. But none of them truly satisfy someone who is lost in their grief.
In the Magicianās Nephew by CS Lewis, Digory is a boy whose mother is deathly ill. He meets the lion Aslan. Digory, afraid to even look up from the floor, begs Aslan for help. With tears in his eyes and sadness in his voice, Aslan replies, āGrief is great.ā Digory becomes convinced that this weeping lion Aslan actually cares more for his mother than Digory does himself.
When I question why God allowed my son to die, I remind myself that God loves Levi more than I do. When I feel abandoned by God, I remind myself Jesus suffered on the cross to remove my sin and bring me to Him. When I lose myself to grief, I remind myself that God knows what itās like to watch His own Son die. When I question the way God does something, I remind myself that Jesus made The Way and we will be together forever. God IS good.
Thereās not a day that goes by that Levi isnāt on my mind in some way. My hope is that his life and death would be remembered. And even used for Godās glory. Life is short. Heaven is forever.
I put my trust in Christ. May anyone who reads this grieve, hug your children and do the same.
I would go on a drive to the gas station and listen to music even tho I donāt need gas ā½ļø sad/weird how music can change ur mood so much⦠just something to think about
During my walks and runs on this trail I would go sit on this nice rock for about an hour and listen to music while the sun set. The rock had a pretty cool clearing that had a great view of the horizon.
Thank you music and thank you rock.
For grief, I picked a new place to walk outside each day. Force beauty/nature in-front of your eyes to literally add color to your life when it feels grey & blue. During summertime when the heat is awful, sunrise & sunset walks due the trick too.
Praying for you Isaac š
