85% of the Warriors Cap Sheet Can’t Move, Why No DeRozan, Summer 2027 Rebuild for Steph Curry’s 5th
Draymond Green’s return at essentially his original salary closed one of the biggest branches of the Warriors Decision Tree.
Before that happened, though, I rebuilt the Warriors’ salary cap sheet to answer one question:
If Golden State still had access to the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception, should they have pursued DeMar DeRozan?
The surprising conclusion wasn’t really about DeMar.

One thing surprised me while rebuilding the cap sheet…
I came into this analysis thinking DeMar DeRozan might be the obvious next move after LeBron chose Philadelphia.
Instead, I walked away believing preserving Summer 2027 flexibility gives Steph Curry a better chance at Ring No. 5.

After watching your breakdowns, I’m convinced Summer ‘27 is the move to reset and build a team around Steph. I even think Bron is still in play bc his 2nd yr is a player option. (IF he and Steph still want to play together)
I’m curious to what RFAs or UFAs are on the table for Summer 27 and would love to see a video exploring Summer 27. How much would GS have to use and who would be a good fit?
I also believe that what happen now "Run it back" this coming season is a long term preparation for next summer,but i also think that as @Rich have mention that next summer which 2027 the warriors have more flexibility,this move can also tells you two things the first one is in the summer of 2027 because warriors have more flexibility they can poach players like @Rich mention to give a chance for curry to get his fifth ring before curry retire,Or second thing the front office can use their flexibility in 2027 to get that is not older than 30 years old above if the front office plans is for the future of the franchise after steph retire.😊
