I can see why people say manufactured or rigged, but as you pointed out as good as they're they will still lose games and likely against teams they should realistically beat esilly. However since they're a contender it's an easy target to pick when the schedules are released and looking at it it seems easy till you remember it's the NBA and the worst team in the league can possibly beat all the top contenders in regular season. So there's that too and thse arguments often ignores injuries, load management and the possibility of losing a few extra games to get an easier run in the playoffs. NBA due it's grueling schedule is also highly strategic for the top teams and the bottom feeders.
